🏈 ACC Football: Week 10 - 2024

Assuming this result holds, SMU is very likely to go undefeated in conference play. Which IMO is pretty embarrassing for the ACC, a mid major team from Texas comes in and is immediately the 2nd or 3rd best program you’ve got.

ACC is also very much at risk of running into a case where it’s got three 8-0 teams at the top of the conference, and only two spots for the conference title game. Clemson, Miami, and SMU all don’t play each other and all have favorable schedules remaining.

Actually just saw that Clemson is losing to UL, so many that problem fixes itself lol.

But isn’t that the ACC way bring in a new team and watch them roll? Clemson, FSU and VT did it. Miami took 15 yrs but eventually got there.

Now this is the scenario Ive had an eye on for a cple weeks now. I still believe Miami has to drop one of these games at some point. But again it would be the most ACC thing to find away to stuff up having 3 good teams

Would argue it’s different, FSU, Miami, and VT were all very well established programs who had either won national titles or made the national title game right before they entered the ACC. SMU had a good year last year but generally speaking has just been decent over the past decade in a mediocre AAC.

More just a comment on how far the ACC has fallen, if a team of SMU’s caliber entered in the mid 90’s they’d be like 4-4 right now.

Sometimes its just a snarky comment and there’s no need to argue or prove a point.

Yeah. Clemson is gonna lose this game.

Is Dex really DC at PSU, though? I thought he was always co-DC.

Remember when Pitt had supposedly cracked the NIL puzzle? Let’s see how happy everyone there is with the Duzz’s approach now that they’re hitting some bumps.

Pitts offense had been horrendous the last two weeks going for 215 and 230ish yards.

Looking at last nights statline they actually dominated, 453 to SMUs 467 yards gained. 350 in the air 103 on the ground won time of possession more first downs, less penalties.

Pitt did everything right but they turned the ball over and ended up getting dominated on the score board.

I think we learned that Clemson are frauds. Beating up on bad teams since UGA. They just don’t have the defense, and I could see VT giving them another L

I disagree slightly. I think Clemson is a good team not a great team. Meaning they struggle to consistently reach potential. But clemson as CFP hopefuls and contenders? Yea fraud.

Yes agree. My point was in reference to them being a contender

A LOT of that Pitt yardage was the last 20 minutes of the game once they were 4+ TDs behind.

Not to take them for granted next week, they’re going to be fired up and they’re 7-1 for a reason.

Yeah, Dex is the co-DC and doesn’t make the play calls. After Pry went to VT, Penn State hired Manny Diaz to be DC. After Diaz went to Duke Penn State again passed over promoting Dex and hired Tom Allen.

The natural next step for Dex would be taking a lead DC job where he designs the defense and calls the plays.

Agreed they got a ton of garbage time yardage. Even with that it was empty calories didn’t score much. They will be a tough matchup in a night game but not impossible. They will leave opportunities on the table.
