Theoretically Miami, Clemson and SMU could all go undefeated in the ACC. That would probably be a pretty good result for the league’s strength argument. Might be the only way to get 2 teams into the playoff.
But SMU’s losing in Charlottesville, so they’re not going undefeated.
Have to agree. Pulling for SMU to beat Pitt because they have the best chance to win out (BC, @UVA, CAL). Pitt has Clemson, @Lousville, and BC. An undefeated Miami, Clemson and SMU would be great for the league.
Dex isn’t coming here to be DC when he’s already that in title at Penn State.
And if you mean bring him in as HC, no. We’re currently going through what it’s like to have a first time HC take the job and I’d be shocked if Carla wanted to do it again, even if he is a UVA legend.
Cuse beating VT put a big smile on my face. Misery loves company and Pry may be just good enough to stick around for years without actually being a threat. A terrible in-game coach
VT is staring down a 5-5 record with next week’s game against Clemson, then they get Dook and us to end the year. Probably will end up at 7-5 but 6-6 isn’t out of the picture. Tough pill to swallow for a “Playoff darkhorse”.
I said immediately after Pry got hired that I thought he’d do ‘fine’ there, but that fine wouldn’t be enough to appease that fanbase. He’d get them 7-8 wins a year and bring them out of the hell that Fuente left their program in but that fanbase believes they’re entitled to the success they sustained in the 2000’s, consistent double digit win seasons and top 10-15 status. IMO Pry never gets them there, and honestly I don’t know who does in today’s day and age or if they’d even be able to make that kind of hire.
Wasn’t just their fanbase, a decent amount of pundits had them as a top 15-20 team. Pat McAfee had them finishing #4 in the country on the first college gameday of the season (mere hours before they lost to Vanderbilt).
Lots of people drank the koolaid because of how many starters they returned and a favorable schedule, but failed to look at their lack of depth and issues along the OL.
