I think youâre right about the importance of punting. It was pretty good against Pitt and we had a couple lucky bounces that benefited the group as well. They donât need to find the coffin corner on all the kicks but the ability to switch fields and not give up cheap yardage will be key.
Its funny to me seeing how many teams try ârugby styleâ kicking and they are so bad at it. I think if properly utilized as in going all in on it, the rugby style kicking could be a massive asset for a team if taught correctly. That means more than rolling out and kicking, but understanding the difference on ball placement to sky a ball, or kick a line drive or a banana kick.
Not ACC related but Kennesaw State just fired their Head Coach Brian Bohannon. Interesting considering he basically founded the program in 2015 as their first HC and guided them from FCS to the FBS. In his first year in Conference USA the Owls are currently 1-8 and he was relieved of his duties yesterday.
College Athletics are a cold blooded business and itâs all about what have you done for me lately.
@CavTex Do you follow this guy? I follow him because all he focuses on is punting in NFL & college games and how they affect the outcome. Itâs sooo interesting.
Must See Punts by @IsaacPunts⌠this one is on onside punt analysis:
So I have UVA in that group of possible Bowling teams. Just not guaranteeing it since they could lose out. Same as Tech.
@Richan34 thatâs my fear. I donât have great experience going on road games with the group. I donât count watching them play down here at GT as a road game. Part of me is is saying listen to my age and just enjoy going to the SMU game next weekend.
I donât really understand the quitting mid-season and announcing for the portal when the portal doesnât even open until December 3. I do understand if youâre trying to redshirt to preserve a year of eligibility, but if youâre not doing that, whatâs the point? Other schools canât legally talk to you and if they do it through back channels, they couldâve done that anyway. I guess you donât have to practice and play anymore so youâre not risking injury? I dunno, it wouldnât be my mentality.
Was just looking at the ACC standings and there are already 8 teams that are bowl eligible. And there is another 6 teams that need one more win. Out of those 6 remaining teams itâs very likely that 5 of those teams will win another game.
BC beats UNC
UNC beats Wake
NC State beats UNC
CAL beats Stanford
VT beats UVA
That would make 13 ACC teams bowl eligible. Leaving out UVA, Stanford, Wake, and FSU.
The ACC is tied to 8 bowl games, with two alternative bowls if the AAC canât fill them. If the ACC gets 2 teams in the playoffs and fills the 8 guaranteed bowls, a few teams are going to get left out.
No oneâs getting left out. Thereâs 35 bowl games that need 70 teams plus the 12 playoff teams. Some of the bowls still have guaranteed tie ins to the Pac-12 which obviously arenât going to get filled.
If anyone gets left out itâll be lower tier G5 teams. Iâd actually bet on not enough total bowl eligible teams that they have to dip into the 5 win team pool.
