Rooting for Miami, Pitt, Louisville and Syracuse. And Cal for sentimental reasons.

Updated with finalized game times.

It just seems bizarre that the Cal-Stanford ā€œBig Gameā€ is on the ACC Network.

Can you work that into your classroom curriculum how weird this is? Some sort of cognitive dissonance branding lesson?

Assuming this post is correct, it’s actually better for Virginia if Miami loses.

That’s probably right, but 1) I’m not ever rooting for VT to win a football game and 2) I’m trusting the scenarios from here (which don’t get into the 5th level of the 3 way tiebreakers) Virginia Football Clinching Options

Rooting for Miami to lose is different than rooting for the other team to win.

Or, maybe Bane shows up to the game and no one wins?

I think this point is moot because no way is VT beating Miami

As said above this is moot, but Virginia can clinch an ACC title game berth this week with the following results:

Pittsburgh loses to Georgia Tech (-2.5), and
Duke (-6.5) loses to North Carolina, and
SMU (-3.5) loses to Louisville, and
Miami (-16.5) loses to Virginia Tech

I fear that if we back into the ACCCG after a loss to VT, that puts the ACC champ Virginia being left out of the playoff as the 6th highest ranked conference champion scenario into play. Probably me being irrational though since JMU’s best result is losing to a Louisville team we beat.

I know it’s pride talking, but I wouldn’t feel good making the ACCCG if we can’t beat VT, especially this year’s VT.

Though it won’t happen, it would be nice, for me as a fan with hypertension, if we could lock up the ACCCG this week. I don’t need any more weight put on the VT game.

It’s less crazy than I thought to make it with a loss, basically need GT > Pitt, SMU to lose once, and Duke to lose once.

Same. Was running scenarios and was surprised by how feasible that scenario is. But agreed with StLouHoo that pride would take a major hit to make it despite losing this dogshit VT team.

The GT-Pitt game is a toughie to decide on rooting. If we beat VT, we want Pitt to beat GT and/or SMU to lose either game. But if we lose to VT, every scenario for us to get in requires GT to beat Pitt.

I took a peek at VT’s schedule the other day and I don’t know why anyone thought they could even have a chance of being a bowl team this season. Started with 2 SEC teams (1 of which was overrated as it turned out) then 2 buy games (1 of which they lost), then a winnable game @NC State (which they miraculously won), then an easy one vs Wake (which turned out much harder than expected), then @GT, Cal, Louisville, @FSU, Miami and @Virginia (coming off a bye). Someone in the ACC office scheduling department must hate them.

I’m pretty sure Dinich did not say this.

Holy sh!t the comments below the original post are sad. Half the people are just running with it, a solid number are tagging Grok to fact check it (not that helpful), there’s the predictable brain genius take ā€œit doesn’t matter whether she said it or not, just that you would believe that she would,ā€ and a few brave souls trying to point out that she didn’t say it. Social media literacy is just cooked nowadays, hm?
