Anyone tuning in for this one? Does anyone think fans outside the ACC will care?

Clemson might be the last ACC team that the larger college football fanbase goes, “Oh, Clemson is playing.” when they are checking what games are on that day.

This is why we gamble.

It’s worth watching to see if Clemson can get it together and just f#$k up the CFP by getting a win.

Whoever is ranked 11th on Tuesday will care. Probably Alabama. SMU wins and 11 is safe. Clemson wins and 11 probably gets their playoff bid stolen.

Somebody wanna give the cliff notes version of how the playoff teams are determined now?

It would come down to an 11-2 SMU team with no bad losses but no great wins vs a 9-3 Bama team with great wins and terrible losses. The predictive metrics, perceived Vegas Line, and conference/brand bias would all favor Bama.

I’m betting Bama still gets in over SMU.

12 playoff spots. 5-12 play first round games on campus sites hosted by seeds 5-8.

Top 5 conference champs get autobids. Top 4 conference champs get seeded 1-4 with a first round bye.

Rest of the field is filled out by a committee, same as the basketball tournament.

Miami losing to Syracuse was a giant kick in the prunes for all ACC fans. It took the ACC from likely 2 bids (and bama being out) to likely 1 bid (and Bama being in).

Yup. Probably cost each school in the ACC at least 1-2 million bucks or more depending on how far the 2nd ACC team advanced.

They take the five conference champs, then they take the next seven best B10 or SEC teams.

Miami’s been screwing the ACC since they joined. We paid for The U and got Miami.

I will say that if either GT or Clemson won their - very close - rivalry games, the ACC probably still gets 2 teams in. It was all of GT, Clemson, and Miami losing last week that made the league a 1 bid league.

True but of all of those games GT was at a hostile UGa they had no business winning. Clemson was facing essentially their clone so that was a pick’em. Miami had the path as cleared as possible.

Funny… because it makes fun of VT…

Had a friend text me that and wasnt sure kg it was a joke.

Can’t imagine what kind of draw coaching in college has for Belichick right now other than access to college aged women he can date.
