I’m not sure the 'Noles can afford to fire Norvell. Looks like he is owed about $63 if they fire him at the end of the year.
I know money is different nowadays in football, but one of the issues FSU has suffered for year is their donor base is not as flush with cash as many of the other powerhouse programs.
I love that the SMU logo is a jpeg. You’d figure with all that oil money in the donor pool, they could afford one intern to convert their media collateral assets to png.
TIL that ex-UNC CB Tony Grimes is still playing in college at UNLV. I thought he’d been around a lot longer, but this is only his 5th year. Somehow he’s gotten worse every season.
Can you really fire a coach midseason after he went undefeated the year before though? And is this a conversation if not for last year’s QB injury and playoff snub?
Yes, it’s cut throat but feels like a football move.
Love going down the rabbit hole on this “what if game” If Travis doesn’t get hurt last year Norvell likely pulls a Jimbo, hang on for another yr or two at FSU and parlay that into a big money gig.
Wait it out. There’s no real advantage in firing him now if you don’t have a replacement lined up. No recruit is going to be more motivated to commit to a team without a coach.
That’s what I was thinking. Go ahead and make the announcement that he’ll step down at the end of the season, allows them to start the process of finding his replacement now and also spins the end of his tenure into a positive.
