Saw this on socials and had a laugh.
Show me the money being spent on programs by team, and I will show you the average winning percentages of those teams over time.
There will be exceptions (like the Aâs in baseball for a while), but the best teams on average will be the ones with the biggest payroll. Theyâll have better coaches and players.
Arenât the SEC and B1G killing the ACC on this metric with no end in sight?
Iâm glad we havenât court-stormed in a decade, but Duke coaches and DSPN are absolutely insufferable on this issue.
Not just handing out kit katsâŚhanding out kit kats FIVE at a time.
Blood Sugar High Point amirite?
Is his name an anagram??
All because Kyle filipowski stuck his knee out and then faked an injury.
But we did get this gem of a picture.
Just another Duke crybaby
Yeah, that was bizarre that his victim mentality was so strong that he tried fairly dangerously to actually injure himself.
How a teenage John McEnroe snuck into that picture still creeps me out.
Cory just admitted he was a Duke fan in the 80âs.
Idk I might hate this guy.
Donât look now but weâve moved into 8th place in the ACC.
itâs a 5-way tie but still, itâs rarefied air
Donald Hand jr since I openly said Im not a fan (after his poor game vs us) is currently the best player in the country.
Four way tie for 9-12 now. Tiebreak is record in the group, followed by best ACC win:
UVA 2-1
FSU 1-1 (win over WF is better than any VT win)
VT 2-2
Pitt 1-2
9 seed would mean we get a 1st round bye. Three wins took us from in the conversation to miss the tourney to in the conversation for a bye!
I donât want the 9-seed. Weâd have to play the 8 and then Duke. The 11-12-13-seed is the sweet spot if you want to make a little run.
Not worried though, we wonât be in 9th for long anyway.
If Stanford stays in the 7 (highest probability, but only 28% chance), then 10 is ideal. Play 15 (Cuse, ND, Cal), then Stanford who would only be 2 or 2.5 favorites over us. Then you get Louisville and Clemson in some order.
I went to the Richmond Forum last night. For those outside of Richmond, itâs basically a 6-show series that invites speakers to the Altria theater and tickets are really hard to get (not sold to general public, canât be resold if youâre a ticket holder). They talk about a topic of their choice and then do a Q&A. Supposedly, people come in and are pretty candid - was my first time experiencing last night.
Last night was Coach K. He talked about leadership. It was pretty canned. A couple of things that were semi interesting:
- Someone asked him about NIL (of course). He called out lack of any leadership in the NCAA. Alluded to some large changes coming in Spring for how CBB is governed (but no details). He said college football doing it right by governing the CFP separate from NCAA. Not sure I totally understand though.
- Someone asked about the state of the ACC. He said it was horrible and worst of the power conferences now. Blamed on coach departures with lack of strong transition but also used SEC as an example of a commissioner with foresight.
- Made a jab at Tony Bennett - something about him and Roy having multiple championships but Tony having only one and they got spoken about together. Was light hearted but not.
- Someone asked about Tonyâs retirement. He said they were friends and speak about it. He was surprised but also said transition was poor. Didnât have any insight but felt like he could still resurface in CBB. Honestly sounded like him speaking out of his ass more here than anywhere else on the night.
- Someone asked about high percentage of internationals in NBA and about American development. Talked about how college game is only game that is played differently than the pro level (2 halves, 30âsec shot clock) and that needs to change. And then rest all the same AAU v international schools talk.
Generally the main speech was 30 for 30 clips. A lot of Olympic basketball talk. Mentioned Duke had 7 values - one of which was Integrity which is a joke. Wish he was more candid and honest, but none of that.
You paid for that shit?! I hope the rest of the series makes up for that sanctimonious hypocritical
Tickets were gifted to me and I enjoy being social
I feel like there may be a lesson in here about continuity just for continuityâs sake.
