The ending was classic Forbes- zero discipline/fundamentals. Up 2 with :24. Give up a wide open 3. Ty-Laur Johnson then heaves a 35 footer with :13. The hero ball shot is so bad, the team is shocked and they let :09 go before fsu dunks to go up 3. Then somehow, Hildreth is fouled on a half court shot with 0.1. He misses the first of 3 and they lose.
@jazznutUVA we need a certified athlete badge for @Weirdowlhoo
Woof. This sounds about right then:
I think even Ron would make the tournament with Alondes Williams, Tyree Appleby, or Hunter Sallis.
Even Ron is funny. Ron is doing good man
You’ll know the Ron it Back train has left the station if JBR starts advocating for it.
That guy was all over the Hoos as an at large last year, and caught a lot of grief for it
All time guard haul coming up through South Bend high schools in the past several years - Jaden Ivey, Blake Wesley, Markus Burton … and ND has only taken advantage of Wesley, and only for one year.
ND down double digits to BC
And then Haralson coming next year (Indy I guess, but close enough). I was positive about Shrews coming into the season and just the general idea that they had a lot of continuity from a young team last season, but that was too optimistic apparently. Just from their statistical fingerprint, they look pretty different from last season. They don’t take nearly as many threes and they’ve taken a big step back defensively. The last part is puzzling since they returned so much.
I have never been nor do I ever intend to be in Tallahassee, but I know FACTS when I see one.
Double overtime. The 5 nd/BC fans and mee scouting Hand Jr and Burton are thrilled
Need to use our new wealth to buy Notre Dame’s point guard.
Very interesting that in both ots grant ran very little for hand jr. See ya in the portal
ACCT Seed Watch
Bubble watch is retired. I think we probably make the tournament even if we lose out. One more win puts us at 95+%, and two more wins puts us at 99.9%.
Although NC State has an easy remaining schedule, they’re still only projected for 5.3 wins. If they get to 5 and we lose out (and other current 5 win teams pick up at least one more), that puts us in a tie for 15th with NC State, and we’d win the tiebreaker.
(Just keep in mind that T15 above includes ties, so there are simulations in which you are T15 but miss Charlotte.)
Right now we’re most likely looking at a 13-15 seed meaning we’d play the first round against 10-12 (ND, FSU, or one of the Techs.)
Hold H2H tiebreak over UVA
Cal
Notre Dame
UVA Holds H2H tiebreak
NC State
BC
Miami
Georgia Tech
Pitt
TBD Tiebreak
Virginia Tech (lost at home, away Saturday)
Florida State (home 3/4)
Syracuse (away 3/8)
Ah, so it turns out this whole ACCT scheme of keeping teams out was really just a way of keeping Keatts out of the Final 4 again.
I see…
How many consecutive seasons have we had of “Probably the weakest ACC in awhile”? Have to hope this is rock bottom.
I guess for next year, you hope that UVA and UNC make the jump back to elite and Louisville makes another bump.
Clemson is senior laden so expect a drop off. Maybe Miami is supercharged by a new coach and Stanford or Notre Dame finally make a leap.
The ACC’s problem has been the steady decline in coaching, to include formerly top end guys like Bennett, Boeheim, Leonard, Brey, and Larranaga backsliding. Louisville went from Pitino to Padgett to mack to Payne in rapid succession. Pitt followed up the underrated Dixon with Stallings and Capel. Wake and State failed to strike gold with their respective mid-major darling hires; ditto BC. UNC and Cuse fell to the curse of the in-house post-legend appointment instead of using their position to hire a proven commodity (like UNC did with Roy back when). VT actually made good hires but then undermine them by failing to resource hoops properly to sustain any success.
Then the ACC thought the solution was to water all that down with Cal and Stanford (I’ll leave SMU on the TBD side for now)?
I feel like we heard that DHJ wasn’t a “fit” out of HS. Not sure what that meant or if it was just a Tony thing.
HGN mentioned this before about Hand:
