Some really good games this week with ACC standings and NCAAT implications. It should be fun.

GO HOOS!

I always like the Florida State versus Boston College game because you can’t tell which team is which just by looking..

Did ESPN think Syracuse was going to be good this year or is that brand just still bigger than it is in my head. They got two big Monday games and we got zero (though you might argue a Saturday espn game is bigger)

Donnie Freeman had NBA buzz. Kiyan Anthony was a blue chip recruit with headline worthy parentage. Natian George was a top transfer pull, as was Nate Kingz. Sadiq White was a borderline 5 star. JJ Starling was a known quantity on the perimeter.

So some good names to put out there on top of the historic brand. Maybe some optimism this would be a “return to form” season after so many years lost in mediocrity. But alas that optimism was misplaced.

Yeah, there was some optimism about their roster in the offseason (I was a doubter, but just based on their coach)

My current ACC bracketology

Duke - 1 (2)
Virginia - 4 (16)
North Carolina - 5 (20)
Louisville - 6 (22)
Clemson - 7 (26)
NC State - 8 (31)
SMU - 9 (33)
Miami - 9 (35)

(Cut Line after 46)

Virginia Tech - 2nd team out
Cal - 6th team out
Stanford - Theoretically alive

Interesting as I’ve heard it said that they take into account current roster at time of selection - would that mean a 15-2 Louisville squad with Brown be seeded at 3 like they should be? Only losses at Duke (1st game back and rusty) and at Arkansas.

Don’t think you can ignore a quarter of the season. Historically that’s more been used to punish teams who have a player out for the year right before selection Sunday.

Very interesting to watch these two with Caleb Wilson out for UNC and Mikel Brown back and on fire for Louisville. These two have potential to move a lot in a month.

Because of overvaluing the talent, or a coach who couldn’t make it work? Both, I guess.

I honestly thought they would be good, or at least significantly better than they have been.
