Downhill driving guards are what weâve been missing since Malcolm Brogdon. Reece is much better but I canât name anyone else that weâve recruited that can handle well enough to drive downhill, create contact, score etc.
Those are the types of guards and play that earn calls during the ACC and NCAA tournament that good teams have.
Before anyone mentions it- our Natty team had Ty, Kyle, and Dreâ, BUT those guys werenât downhill drivers however at times did an okay job of it. They were just VERY efficient shooters.
To summarize- an equalizer to BAD offense/shooters are those Ishmael Leggett guards that can drive, finish or get fouled.

Never at D1 or D 2 level ⌠a ton in high school though⌠I even did triple headers in high school and during Christmas tournament season I did 12 High school games in 2 days one time - of course I was 23.

I feel like, 10 years from now, Iâll say I wish we just had Reece & EG as our starting backcourt for 1 year.
Just wish Reece had 2 sidekicks as good as Kyle & Dre. Wouldâve been the GOAT PG.

When you have a guard who can get downhill and score at the rim, thatâs not something you waste! Cmon now! You save him for when youâre down double digits to the best team on your schedule. Yâknow - âbreak glass in case of emergency.â
