Pretty good draw actually. I like our chances in the first game against any of the three possible opponents.
15 Pitt: #108 T-Rank, we won 67-47 at home on Feb 3 behind 15 pts from Sam Lewis
10 Stanford: #61 T-Rank, we won 70-55 at home on Jan 10 behind 22 pts from De Ridder
7 NC State: #38 T-Rank, we won 76-61 on the road in January and 90-61 at home two weeks ago. In the game at State, we were up 27 with about 7 minutes left before they made a meaningless come back.
Likely line against each team:
Pitt +17
Stanford +11.5
NC State +5.5
Love the matchups especially since we have State’s number this year, and Wade seemed deflated after our last game.
I believe he said, paraphrasing ,that we’re just better than them and that if they played us 100 times they might get lucky and beat us once.
Ryan Odom is 15-8 career in conference tourneys. 12-2 when the higher seed. Pretty good.
While I agree with him, I would be a little concerned about getting everyone to lock in for a game against a team you’ve beaten pretty comfortably twice already. Human nature would be to get pretty complacent.
State players talk a lot of trash. It’s pretty easy to get locked in vs them.

So who we playing in the Semis?
Benefit of having a team full of dudes who were just the guy at their respective schools last year.
Malik, Sam, Jacari, and Chance all were THE guys less than a year ago, and TDR is THE guys this year. I think it shows when teams like NCSU come in immediately jawing and getting chippy. Team is very mentally tough.
And then there were two… potential victims, with about a 3/4 shot it’s NC State.
15 Pitt: #103 T-Rank, we won 67-47 at home on Feb 3 behind 15 pts from Sam Lewis. Likely line Thurs: Pitt +14.5
7 NC State: #38 T-Rank, we won 76-61 on the road in January and 90-61 at home two weeks ago. In the game at State, we were up 27 with about 7 minutes left before they made a meaningless come back. Likely line Thurs: State +5.5
Go Pitt! But I don’t think it matters. I think we make the SF either way.
