⛹ Andrew Rohde - Official Thread

Wow, <40% on FTs too? (Just checked: 3-9. Small sample, but still: Woof.) And this from a guy who’s known as a shooter. Hopefully he turns that around in conference play.

He looks morose on the floor. Like the tail end of a brutally physically practice. Where is the positive energy and pep?

He was coming off a nagging injury. Hadn’t practiced in 9 days Tony said. This was his first action back

He’s really thinking a lot out there. Another 5-7 games and it will start to slow down for him.

He seemed to be getting more comfortable / more in a rhythm before break, then he had a layoff and was apparently dinged up.

But that still leaves the question as to why you’d play that guy 31 minutes… but I’m not complaining about ■■■■■■■■■ or lineups anymore so I’ll let someone else ask it. (Like Hav :joy:)

Feels like AF was never really a 37% consistent shooter from 3 though. I haven’t broken down the game-by-game stats, so maybe it was just my perception, but felt like he’d go 5/6 one game followed by an 0/5 then 1/5 game. It comes out to 37% over the three games…but not really.

From the new Cuts. Rohde’s nagging injury is his foot? Don’t like that whatsoever. That stuff can linger forever. Takes a beating on the court.

But those plays, especially the defensive ones, certainly looked to be physical in nature. No matter how rusty you are at recognizing/running a defense and even having to be keyed into defending an offensive player – it usually doesn’t account for such extreme disparities in ability just to stay within distance of your man. It also usually doesn’t so visibly impact close-out speed, etc. So, Rohde’s health/foot are something I’m going to be keeping an eye on closely over the next few games.”

You’re quick!

Yeah, CTB said it was a foot during his presser after the game that he’s “been battling.” If you watch his mobility before/after the break (and his shot but that can be rust while mobility is physical) - it’s night and day. He was playing great beforehand, on Saturday he was legitimately slow and getting beaten fully off of the dribble to where he was trailing his guy by full feet (and his rotations were slow too).

So, CTB seemed to imply in the presser it was an injury that he’s dealing with for a while but, if so, he looked more ginger after 9 days of rest than playing through it? It’s a confusing timeline. I’d expect rust after a long time off re: shooting and defensive awareness, but not just staying in front of your man - which hasn’t been an issue with him all year. In fact, I was just recently highlighting what quality defense he was playing before the break.

It’s definitely the thing I’m most keeping an eye on right now because the team is MUCH better when he’s playing as he was prior to the time off.

Don’t love it. Stress fractures in feet can take forever to heal but generally wouldn’t look that terrible after 9 days (and he’d look better as game went on, actually). I wonder what it is.

Would feel solid about Memphis if team was 100%.

Jeez, I can’t imagine he’d be playing with a stress fracture in his foot. However, a planar fasciitis kinda thing would make sense in that you can 100% play on it without much risk of further injury, it just REALLY hurts. And they take forever to heal.

And Rohde getting hurt after the last game makes more sense than it being something he’s been battling for a few games.

It depends on the severity of the stress fracture. I had a stress fracture in my foot about 15 years ago and the doctor just said there was nothing to do about it. I would long distance run, play soccer, play volleyball and all that would happen would be a large blue bruise would appear on the top of my foot. After about 5 years, it went away and the slight limp and occasional pain subsided.

Edit: I would tape my foot a lot…

Same. It was painful at start of exercise then faded away after about 5 mins of running. Then would hurt a lot the next day.

Either way, your foot takes a serious beating playing hoops. Whatever it is, will be hard to get past without a lot of rest.

Joining the crowd here of having had foot stress fractures. I had one my second year at the beginning of the season and was able to hide it/ play through it for a few games but if became too much. Sat out 5 games and did lotta treatment and was fine after

If it is something that he can recover from with rest, bench him and let him recover. After today the schedule is easier till 1/6 when we go to NC State. Let Eli/Taine/Bond get some extra minutes to improve the bench for the stretch run. It may cost us a game tonight but make us better in the long run (healthy Rohde and deeper bench).

Yes! Ooofos are the best. And Dawn Staley endorses them as well.

I would endorse this… unless you tear your Achilles like I did… not recommended for recovery.

Yes… they were the best before the Achilles tear and the Hamstring pop for post exercise and sports… and they were the best for both recoveries as well!
