But defensive rating doesn’t account for any of those things.

Now, I understand why they would mostly match, because putting yourself in a good position will lead to steals, rebounds, and blocks. However, I still just can’t buy it as a good measure of an individual’s defense.

Thanks for answering my questions!

Just went on an obscure website that tracks efficiency for every/any/all metrics. When I looked at the data I found something that is compelling and worthwhile to discuss. See below and hit me back with any comments or questions:

Wait how many power conference schools are there?

Yes, I am 12 years old.

In football, there are 5 (power 5). In hoops, I sometimes say “Power 6” to also include the Big East. But I tend to use “High Major” most, which also includes Gonzaga and some of the better teams from non-Power 6 conferences, like the better teams in the A-10 or Mountain West. Simple, right?

I feel like you kinda missed the point. Redshirt for you.

I did indeed miss the point.

Nah … your take says there are more like 75 high major teams and again diverts from nonsense to more valuable info.

@Merch is there a way you can adjust thread notifications so you don’t see an unread post when the last post is from someone you’ve muted?

Sounds like it’s a Jayden Gardner, Armaan Franklin & iMac midrange game.

This feels like the Oregon game in the sweet 16 where they supposedly out-athleted us at every position with Kenny Wooten and company, and we win it with some Three-hei’s. I think Hoos will in a close one.

This is correct. He hasn’t had this much wing production around him since his first year, and therefore from his second year on he’s had to shoulder alot of it.

I was doing what I always do and started digging for any random fun facts about previous matchups. The only other time we played Baylor was in 1968. Not too much of note however, we lost by eighteen, 79-61 Baylor. Mike Wilkes scored 12, John Gidding led with 20. Norm Carmichael had a double-double. I was curious about the roster, so I looked at the 1968 UVA basketball page on Sports Reference. SR always has some historical stats stuff from seasons this long ago.

This is the actual photo for Chip Case. Legitimately terrifying. I also could not find any other photos of this man, but I really want to because I do NOT want this as my main memory of this guy.

I would bet the score for tonight looks spookily similar to that score

Yeah .. rotations are always about fitting the right pieces together … the last 3 years it seems we’ve had pieces from 3 different puzzles and trying to fit them into one.
Having guys who can play multiple positions on both ends really helps alleviate that…
And we still have that issue with a lot of guys:
Reece and Clark can really only play the 1.
Isaac will be able to play 1 or 2.
Franklin can really only play the 2 - unless the other team plays small at the 3.
Taine can play at the 2 or 3 depending on the night.
Dunn can play 2, 3, 4 - unlocks lineups.
Gardner can only play the 4
BVP can play 4 and a little 5 or 3 depending on the matchup.
Shedrick can play 5 and little 4
Caffaro only the 5.
Redshirts are more versatile too.
