šŸ—ŗ Best & Worst Cities

I get where you’re coming from for sure. But like you said, I don’t think it’s possible to have an NFL stadium at 55k nowadays. Even Green Bay has grown beyond that.

@Hoohoohoo remember when Wash got sued because they were faking their sell out streak for a decade or more. Fed Ex is a horrible stadium, poorly built and in a terrible location. Really has everything going against it.

All I know is the World Cup is coming to the US in 3 years and the DC metro didn’t have a high enough quality stadium to even be considered to host games. That’s a damn shame for the nation’s capital

Great Wolf just opened a location between Baltimore and Philadelphia. Doubt they want one between that one and Williamsburg.

Kalahari is building a gigantic park north of Fredricksburg already too.

People go to National Harbor?

I have no words. It’s like someone read only the 4th chapter of a book - the shittiest chapter of them all - and declared the book to be a literary disaster.

Tourist who wander in lost to the worst casino on earth…

Northern Virginia residents who used to go to a casino in West Virginia.

I had to file a goddamn Maryland tax return because my wife hit a small slots jackpot last year.

Take me to CharlesTown Races and Slots any day over the Harbor… Unless it’s Rosecroft Raceway.

Bayonne way better than The Rock

Let’s talk some hidden gem cities… now I know every city has their issues, crime, bigotry, bad sports teams (Cleveland… I’m looking at you)… but I like the following hidden gems:

U.S:

  1. Little Rock - this is a hidden gem Air Force base town… it has its issues, but overall I like it.
  2. Castle Rock - It will get swallowed up by Denver and Colorado Springs soon, but it was great while it lasted!
  3. Santa Fe - Green or Red?

OCONUS:

  1. Tallinn - walled city w/ Estonians & Russians that you can see Helsinki from the coast? Quick 45 minute ferry over? Every time I go I want to move there
  2. Stavanger - if this Norwegian town didn’t cost 10x the amount it costs anywhere else, I’d want to move here too.
  3. Terceira Island - i seriously though about buying land on this island… but i can’t understand Portuguese. haha!
  4. Annecy - canals like Venice in France and less than an hour from Geneva? Sign me up! Side note: the few times I’ve taken the bus between Annecy and Geneva, the Swiss border patrol rough someone up on the bus… so there is that downside.
  5. Vicenza - Had the opportunity to move there in 2013… I kinda wish we did. There would’ve been a BeFED right in the town!

edit: I could go on here, but I stopped at the first 5 OCONUS ones off the top of my head…

When I was a broke Airman stationed in COS, I’d do a lot of my clothes shopping at the outlet in Castle Rock. Was a little cheaper than the department stores.

As for surprising towns, I was actually a little surprised by OKC. Only went once when on an extended TDY to Sheppard, but it was actually more to do/see than I thought.

I’ve been to OKC a few times… it’s not bad. Wichita Falls on the otherhand… or Enid, or San Angelo, or Altus…

I’ll be in COS for some reserve time the third week of January.

Can you get around Talinn OK just knowing English? I’m curious about Estonia as a trip destination (or part of a bigger trip).

Wife & I went back in October. It’s changed quite a bit since we left in 2006. Especially the east side.

Yeah… Tallin, Vilnius and Riga… all okay with just English… but leave the cities and you may have a problem.
