I’m not sure i want to go down the OCONUS city rabbit hole… I’m highly opinionated.

Haha I was waiting for your opinion

Here’s one for everyone

Assume you’re about to be the No1 draft pick in the sport of your choice. Where which city do you want to play in? Take out the actual team situation etc.

For endorsement opportunities, it’d be New York or Los Angeles.

Personally, I wouldn’t mind Denver if downhill skiing were allowed by my contract.

Grew up in Va suburb - Hampton Roads - loved it then.
Moved to a city in Mexico as a kid with over a million people… dusty and crowded… but lots of neighbors to play with. Ok as a teenager. Always stuff to do.
Lived in LA area for 18 years - enjoyed it until the last 3 or 4 years or so of that time. Always stuff to do.
Moved to cookie cutter neighborhood in NC - ok - not great.
Now been on 14 acres about 5 minutes outside the 18th largest city in NC for almost 7 years… heaven!
900 feet walk to take the trash cans to the road… a privilege… room for the 4 kids to run and ride and play soccer, golf, baseball, capture the flag , explore the woods any day they want? Priceless.
Having friends over for smores and catching lightning bugs? For sure. Getting to look out my window from my work from home desk and enjoy seeing deer, and wild turkeys, and skunks and beavers meander past? And having access to the neighbors fishing pond anytime we want?
Oh and did I mention - still less than 10 minutes from 4 grocery stores and 50 restaurants and historic landmarks and things to do???
Ahhhhhhh

P.s. Yes we got a metal detector for exploring the woods. Found a pre Civil War horseshoe among other things.

If we’re not taking team dynamic into consideration…strictly location and what that location provides…I’m a New York Knick.

Brooklyn Net. Knicks practice in White Plains. No thx

Also, maybe a Sixer. Philly nice/fun, too.

I also like LA more than most here, it seems. Plus with the $$ I’m making I can hire a driver and not have to deal

Also haven’t been to ATL, but I really enjoyed some of the areas around Midtown.

Ah heck, just give the me $$ and let me figure it out

No list:
Vegas expansion team
Probably OKC
Probably Sac-town
Orlando (FL w/o a beach? Why?)
Utah is a bit of a wildcard…
Others?

Blackpool, Stockport or Preston… best of both worlds between two great cities.

I live in Park City, Utah, within 15 minutes of 3 different ski resort bases. Been here 8 years. I like it here…

See you in march

We stayed at the pv inn last year, but this year we are going with an airbnb a little bit north.

We followed a similar path and it’s why we own a few acres outside of Atl now in addition to the spot in Nelson County.

The way I see it nowadays the location is less important for marketing purposes. If you’re good you’ll get deals anywhere. Ja put Memphis on the map.

That and cold and people knocks NYC off the list for me.

Give me San Diego. Old Mission beach life less people than LA better weather.

Miami if I really want to party it up and enjoy no state income

That’s a place I’d love to visit

Not a fan of this at all

Which part, the Caps/Wiz leaving Verizon for the Virginia side of the river, or that VT paid a lot of money to build a campus right nextdoor?

Re: the relocation of the Caps and Wiz, that doesn’t surprise me at all, Richmond is always looking to get pro sports in the state, even if that means just getting the Commanders or now the NBA/NHL to build on their land instead of DC’s or MD’s.

Not surprised. Virginia ans Alexandria have been selling the idea of hosting a team at Potomac Yards since the early 2k. The Nats stadium was almost put there and thhe Commanders gave it a legit look.

I don’t like it because route 1 and the infrastructure around there aren’t made to handle that. And it just pushes more people out as the property values will continue to outpace salary.

I don’t like it for DC because the MCI/Verizon/CapOne Center revitalized and saved Chinatown and without that vemue being in use 100 plus days a yr for games its going to hurt that area.

Awful awful. Terrible for DCA. And only one metro stop. This basically requires driving to the games based on the configuration of the metro to Potomac Yard—whereas Capital One arena is one of, if not the most, transit accessible arenas in the country.

Also, I know ā€œno politicsā€ yada yada, but clearly Youngkin is emptying the state coffers to have a banner for his pres/senate run. Meanwhile the DC Metro needs to make up a $750 million deficit and VA/MD don’t want to provide funds. I think Potomac Yard should be the first metro station on the chopping block if the money isn’t found.

one other thought—nobody will want to go to games here. Maybe part of it is a plan to sell the Wizards? Say ā€œhey we have financing for a brand new arena, don’t you want to buy this team.ā€

This is also really hurts DC. Unlike other cities, because of the moronic height limit, DC’s ability to convert this into residential or something else is severely hampered. Almost nothing that fits within the height limit will make up 20k people 200 days a year.

NYC could build a 10 story concert hall and a 30 story tower on top if they wanted but DC is hamstrung
