Bless Greg Kampe and his willingness to let his players do whatever the fuck they want on offense. Very fun coach.

I actually think he plays a lot like a combo of Shane Larkin and Markus Howard….tbd if he is as good as either in college

I don’t see the Guy stuff either.

You would have to watch high school clips of Guy for the comp to be anywhere close

Was thinking closer to this. Maybe if we never had Ty and Kyle was forced to play a little more point like he did in HS. Otherwise I don’t really see it.

Markus Howard is a pretty good comp, though I doubt Chance ever gets the shot volume he did at Marquette lol.

Wojo basically lost his job because he picked Howard over the Hausers (not sure if this is 100% accurate, but it is true in my head)

In terms of how we use them.

Mallory = Guy
Bliss = Jerome
Dai Dai = Kihei

(not perfect but in terms of the roles and each group has different strengths and weaknesses and how they would be used. Will be interesting to see those 3 together and also alongside Gertrude Sharma and Ward/Power at the 3 at times).

Mallory is an offball sg guard/on ball scoring guard who is elite 3pt shooter and whose growth in college will come from creating for other/seeing the floor a little better as he is surrounded by better talent and not shooting 40 times a game like in HS

If he’s Calvin Murphy, whose Mike Newlin, Rudy Tomjanovich, and Jack Marin? :grinning: (The fact the spell check corrected my spelling of Tomjanovich tells me we are living in exciting and dangerous times).

Khalid El Amin

Sometimes, the fans make El-Amin laugh. Like last season at Virginia.

“We were warming up in the layup line, and a guy asked me if I was hungry,” El-Amin recounted, as his teammates cackled beside him. "And he held up a Domino’s pizza box. I said, “Nah, I’m not hungry right now.’ So I did my layup, and the next time I came around, he told me that he’ll hold it for me till halftime 'cause I should be hungry by then.”

@AdventiveQuasar I’m pretty sure we can get to every sub 6 foot player in college hoops if we keep going

We could always morph to best dunkers under 5-10. Spud Webb

Loved that dude. Roly poly little guy that hooped in an oversized tee and wore a big man number. He was an absolute vibe.

Some thoughts:

https://cutsfromthecorner.com/2024/09/25/musing-about-mallory/

My tune has changed a little bit after watching him much more for this.

I still think there are going to be trade-offs defensively and we’re going to need to support him with our builds… but I’m less concerned about his offense not translating. He’s just too skilled and talented. He might not be as reliable in the lane and will need to look to pass more when he gets in there (although I foresee many a floater), but I think he’s certainly capable of adjusting there.
