On Zoom call with Coach Odom right now. Kevin Miller made the introduction and John Freeman is conducting the interview. Everyone is encouraged to ask questions.
Any updates for the board are appreciated
Coach referencing âThe War Roomâ while also âworking with the guys who are still around.â
LOTS of Zooms with recruits and their families while still trying to get organized every day - always wishing they had another hour to do something. âYou have to be ready to sprint quickly ⌠things are moving fast, have to be on your toes, communicate with the right people.â
if odom uses the word journey make sure to count how many times . i lost count with ron
Night one with the staff (first 4 staff members) was at Riverside and apparently Coach is âa foodie.â Good for the Câville restaurant threads. Mentioned Sloanâs, Big Jimâs, and the Aberdeen Barn.
They said he cannot talk about specific recruits due to NCAA rules
Coach canât discuss individual transfers even if they have publicly announced.
Big DMB fan and how they used to go watch him at Trax/Tracks (canât remember the spelling).
Odom said Kyle and Zay were offered the same positions they were in. Decided on other options.
Said Kyle and Zay could have stayed in their same roles but he was excited where they were headed⌠and he wouldnât spoil itâŚ
Prioritized the young guys on the coaching staff and offered similar level jobs but all are taking new opportunities - nothing we didnât already know
Talking about the Building of the Staff, how Kyle and Zay both had the opportunity to stay, but heâs excited about where they are going to grow professionally. He met with both of them during Final Four weekend, and both of them definitely want to coach and stay in coaching.
As itâs always been. He wasnât gonna drop a âwe got so and so todayâ on this call
Interesting - so that means zay wouldâve been last assistant and Kyle wouldâve remains special assistant or whatever
Giving more background on his relationship with Griff, their time together at UMBC, and Griff going to Longwood.
How did this not come up when they vetted him? WTF.
Matt Henry and family are excited to be in Câville, wife played ball at Princeton, and weâll see his kids going crazy at the games.
Bryce Crawford has worked for a couple of Hall of Famers and never has a bad day. Darius Theus played in the Final Four, played the point guard at a very high level and will give all of that experience to our players, grew up in the 757 and has lots of connections there.
Kelsey K worked for Mark Turgeon at Maryland, plans/organizes everything, and knows how to do it at this level, Matt Hart dials into the analytics and does individual consults with the guys as well, etc.
