✂ Cuts From The Corner - Bethune-Cookman

Making the most focused case yet to shake up the depth chart and rotations in very specific ways. Who knows how much that improves things - but I think it’s clear the answer would be at least “some.”

I couldn’t agree more with this update. Well done.

Cofie is the best player on the team, and I don’t think it is that close. He has athleticism, defensive disruption, rebounding on both ends, a face up game, a 3pt shot, he has decent handle, he makes his FTs and he plays with joy.

He should be starting and playing 30+ mpg.

Sharma > Rohde and Taine. Sharma a better ball handler, better shooter, better rebounder and better defender than both of them

Starting line up: Dai Dai, iMac, Sharma, Cofie, Saunders. These 5 should be playing the majority of the minutes.

Well done and thank you for the excellent write-up.

Go HOOS. Beat Memphis.

Awesome as always.

But lets go back to the very first clip. The entire point of running that opening set is to hit Saunders in the post and establish our inside presence against a much smaller team.

Saunders has his defender buried on the block more than once and somehow we dont simply attempt to get him the ball.

Hence Taine left with (wide open) 3 with 3 seconds on the shot clock. Which he should make, agree

That’s a cute hug.

Yeah, they should have gone into Saunders more and I focused on what needs to change - but Elijah had a good game.

Taines indecisiveness and Buchanans turnover don’t happen if we execute a basic entry pass here. This one’s on Rohde for not making the very easy entry pass

Just having court awareness and being 6-6 you should see that and go to Elijah immediately which forces the ref to actually call the hug foul and inside presence is established

Dai Dai likely makes the entry pass here and we ran the play to get that seal. I don’t understand the hesitancy here? If he fumbled the ball or didn’t have an angle, I would understand not throwing it in to him. So many good things happen if the ball goes inside here - we score, or we kick it out to Taine for 3 if his man collapses, or Saunders gets fouled. Even if we miss the shot/layup, it’s better than a turnover. I just hope it was pointed out in the film session that the ball HAS TO go to Saunders here.

Hq Both Is Good GIF

And it’s the psychology of the game as well. Saunders gets the ball there he doesn’t get frustrated and he plays more freely the rest of the game. Go back and look at game film for all of our games. There’s at least four or five times a game where Saunders has his man sealed, and he doesn’t receive an easy post entry pass. It just mucks up the offense and also mentally mucks up the non-receiver’s mind and emotions

That would have been a sit down offense on my teams…

We need to get the ball to Saunders, but Saunders also needs to play significantly better when he gets it. He is 7-26 inside the arc against the good competition this year. That just ain’t gonna cut it. But you can pretty much say that about everyone on the team with one part of their game. He’s definitely been disappointing from what we were expecting after the blue white scrimmage.
