Improving the 2 pt offense and the continually improving defense. Thanks for reading!
Always fun to read, but especially when there are so many highlights. If we can figure out how to limit their guards today, then my optimism goes way up.
Great stuff! Loved the focus on defense. I have been legit impressed (and surprised) at the improvement. Thomas is doing a better job minimizing his issues and max’ing out his positives on defense.
Thanks! I remember some saying at the beginning of the year that we just were what we were and weren’t going to get any better. It’s a good reminder that practicing team defense and playing together really does matter quite a bit.
I really enjoyed this @Cuts_from_The_Corner. We usually see a breakdown of the offense, but I haven’t seen a good analysis of how the defense has evolved…really good stuff.
I am curious how you think we will respond to a fast-paced primarily 3-point shooting Louisville team. How difficult will that be for us, in your opinion? I know our metrics are good for 3-point defense, and we were good at NC State, but Louisville is a different animal.
Thanks for the kind words!
It’s going to be a great test but it’s one I think we’re pretty well-equipped for; especially if Brown doesn’t play. Brown is the main concern - or London Johnson if he plays (although he shouldn’t be as well-integrated) but given how well we just played Okorie, I’m feeling pretty optimistic.
We defend the three-point line so well because we really don’t care about running guys off of the line and getting up in their hip pockets because Grünloh and Onyenso are so imposing. There’s been a lot of improvement in staying attached to those drives, getting over those screens and, mostly, communicating and switching.
Louisville is very good and it should be the hardest test we’ve faced - but I’ve really liked our defense ever since the exam break so I’m optimistic we can defend. I’m also pretty optimistic they have some vulnerabilities on defense themselves.
Yeah. Have our guards attack iMac ![]()
Genuinely- Malik and Chance should cook him
I saw a 5-minute snippet of a Louisville podcast where the guy ranted the whole time about his defense. He wanted to know the point differential between how many points he gives up defensively vs. points scored, then ended with, “Get him out of the game, and don’t put him back in.” Woof.
