Great work!

Hey, you know a guy is hot when he receives the pass about half way between his ankles and knees and nails the three.

You were (and have been, I think) very complimentary of Jacari’s floor skills. I, on the other hand, have been concerned with the number of bad turnovers he has had when dribbling or passing in tight quarters. What do you think? Am I just having selective recall or do you think he is weak there?

Just from the numbers, Jacari has the highest TO% of regular players other than Hall, and its close. You’d expect a PG to have a high % since they’re handling the ball so much, so that’s not great for White.

The fact that Chance is clustered in with everyone else, despite the amount of ball-handling he does, is just another sign of how well he’s doing.

Yeah, I agree, Jacari has been a little loose with the ball comparatively - but it’s also one of those things where he hasn’t been on the court as much as the others… and if you want the thunder… haha.

I don’t think it outweighs his positive contributions at this point.

Yeah, the guy hitting 54% from 3 on the highest volume on the team is probably adding value.

No, he’s way ahead on the positives

I should add, to your point, I don’t think he’s weak there - I just think he’s incredibly aggressive in most all ways. His whole offensive game is very quick - from the ball-handling, to the passing decisions, to the ability to get a shot up… it’s just like pouring gasoline on everything and lighting a match.

So, with that, comes some of the overly aggressive lobs where you’re like, “wait, what was that” or sometimes he gets moving a little faster than the ball, but I still think you want Jacari playing like that on the whole because of the benefits that come with it.

I wish there was a “pass difficulty” metric (or maybe “pass aggressiveness”) because I would bet his “pass diet” would rank as one of the more risky (and therefore rewarding) ones on the team. He tries stuff, for better or worse.

That would be a fantastic stat. Something like “odds that pass would have resulted in a bucket”. It’s one thing to turn it over on an aggressive downcourt pass over the defense that should have ended with an easy dunk, quite another thing to get picked off on a lazy backcourt pass.

Reading this reminded me of a clip I used a few games ago where he absolutely threaded a tight pass into TDR on a roll. It was risky… but it turned a defended possession into a gimme two.

Jacari’s game is very similar to Kyle Guy’s post (and pre) UVA career.
