Mostly focused on the aberration and success of small ball in this matchup on both ends while highlighting some key contributors.

Anything you notice across both this and the UNC games that explains what’s happening with our defense?

A data point: January 1 - 23, we were 2nd best defense in nation. January 1-31 we’ve dropped to 18th best defense. We are playing closer to early season form on defense. Across either of those time span the offense has stayed relatively consistent in terms of efficiency (which surprised me).

The biggest difference I can see stats wise is our rate turning teams over - which was middling to begin with - has cratered in last two games.

As much as I hate to say it, the biggest thing has been both of those teams went on some pretty crazy heaters with hands in their face.

Secondarily, we’ve been worse at navigating screens and getting our coverages/ help right.

Thirdly, we had, IMO a lapse in intensity after we went up big on UNC and that carried into the ND game.

Neither of our Centers have been on their best defensive form either.

Oh and Jacari and Devin (against UNC) have been rough as defensive subs.

No one (until now) has had the bad taste to mention it, but if you watch Sam’s feet on the clutch 2-pointer with 0:17 left in the 2nd OT . . . he walks.

I didn’t notice until I replayed the end of the game on DVR (had a dinner engagement; made my wife drive so I could follow OT2 on my phone), but I must’ve watched that shot five or six times. And every single time I laughed a little harder.

@HoozGotNext unretire and ban please
