You’re talking about a direct comparison, one-on-one?? Robinson blocked Cooper Flagg’s dunk attempt and brought him to the floor. But since you brought it up, Tillis cannot do that. He’ll have to find other ways to contribute outside of physicality and athleticism. He’s actually a smart player based on the tapes, but the matchups need to be right. He’ll be easily destroyed if matched against Cameroon Boozer, for example.
But don’t forget the “hey, your shoe’s untied” defense that experienced guys have. The mental aspect is important.

True. I like Tillis in certain matchups because he’s experienced and crafty, but the laws of physics will have a vote. Certain matchups (like the Boozer matchup) just won’t work out favorably. ACC will be filled with 6’8 6’9 forwards with big bodies and big time athleticism.

I’m optimistic that he’ll have a good +/- and be a key bench guy even if de Ridder commits. In addition to the offensive skill set, he played for one of the best defensive teams in the country

I’m hoping the Boozer thing is kind of like when Jayden Gardner matched up on Paolo Banchero. Skill/size wise probably shouldn’t be hanging but a grown ass man against a first year haha.

Who else besides Boozer? Feels like we do this exercise every year for the past few seasons and the list of 4s is never particularly scary outside of the top 2-3 teams.

Tillis had 8 starts and played 19 mpg for TJ Otzelberger as a true freshman in the MWC 5 years ago. He knows how to play against bigger, more athletic dudes.

With the way things are, not being able to compete with the top 2-3 ACC teams translates into not being able to make the tournament. Is that your standard?

What evidence do you have that Tillis cant contribute to a top 2-3 team in the ACC? None right? Since the season hasnt happened yet.
Why waste precious time hating on a player who will most likely buy into their bench role like 4 months before the season? Did a guy named Tillis bully you in elementary school? What’s happening LOL (of course Tillis has his limitations. But staff behavior makes it seem they don’t intend for him to be a guy we rely too heavily on. Meh)
Save the thrashing and complaining for when the games actually start and we fall short. It’s preseason. Every one is Michael Jordan.

And he seems slotted for a bench role if we add de Ridder which is accepted. What’s the point you are trying to make? I guess that would be my question.
