Dream Recruits (maybe non-UVA related)

Just seeing one YT and glancing at his box scores. TN is a better rebounder, defender, and playmaker or hah?

It’s hard to compare. Kon plays better competition by far.

But Trent is like twice the foot speed, taller, much better athlete and also has a smooth shoot with deep range and quickness. No idea on how big the gap is between Kon’s shooting and Noah’s. Feel like Noah is closer to Joe Harris/Ty Jerome hybrid at 6’8 (of course this is just playstyle comp, not saying he’s near that good yet lol) and Kon is BVP with Sam Hauser’s shooting touch

You sure are low on Kon lol I’m the exact opposite. Mainly because I NEVER want to go through stretches of incredibly bad shooting ever again lol
Sorry, I know you have well documented reasons you prefer certain recruits. I’m just trying to manifest McKneely, Traudt, and Kon all on the same court at some point at UVA so we rain down so many threes on everyone that the defense doesn’t even matter.

Thats fair. But Shaedon and Trent are both plus shooters.

Just not generational shooters like Kon could be

Shaedon in my mind is a more athletic but not as refine Devon Hall. Devon Hall was more skilled coming into college. Shaedon showed glimpses of running point guard before his injury but has been solely a 3 and d guy and would have to practice to be comfortable with that role/tighten his handles.

I am about had my fill of UVA players that don’t have physical advantages in ā€œeveryā€ game. All things being equal go with the better ATH with similar skills.

I would caveat this with ā€œsimilarā€ Kon still has a gap on the other two but the other two are also much better shooters than most other recruits.

If you want athletes you don’t get shooters. If you want shooters you don’t get athletes. Because an athlete that is also a shooter has five stars next to his name and gets 150k to play for Tennessee

Well Shaedon Simpson is shooting over 40% (against postgrad competition which is better than a lot of high school competition outside big powerhouse areas) and has a 41 inch verticle.

There are a growing number of kids who are both athletes and shooters coming out of HS on top of schools not recruiting HS as much saving spots for the portal.

Even midmajors are full of athletic kids shooting well from 3.

There are only so many open spots at $EC schools every year.

I get your point but this Noah kid is a plus ATH and if he shoots >35% 3p for his career in P6 I won’t fall out of my chair in surprise.

That’s why I thinking we need to add shooter(s) in that class. We got Bond, Dunn, and Gertrude, all big time athletes. Get another shooter along with Mac and Traudt.

If he’s doing that, he’ll eventually get the blue blood offer lol

That’s the thing with late risers. Most schools are already full and not even scouting HS anymore/waiting for the portal. And some kids just still fall under the radar. DeAndre Hunter and Trey Murphy. Shaedon Simpson could be another one of those situations. Dude was incognito for a whole year with his acl tear and then BOOM

And good 3pt shooting athletes is becoming a more common occurence. Blue bloods are also more focused on players who can create their own shot.

Trent Noah for that skilled forward wing, Damarien Yates for that athletic forward, and Shaedon Simpson as a shooting wing replacement for if Taine bounces. That would be a good haul to add to the 2022-23 core with Dante and another pg (Bliss maybe).

Kon will be Brice Sensabaugh

Yeah I don’t disagree on Simpson I’m in. I am just permanently scarred by that 2019-2020 offense

LOL. Man Brice is such a horrible defender.

Kon nowhere near as athletic but at least he hustles on defense/the effort is clearly there. It’s like Jayden defending. He can actually hold his own in the post but trying to be a help defender or guard a guard is a different story.

You could get away with playing Kon at the 4 between Bond and Dunn in a small ball line up.

Maybe try to hide him at the 3 like Hauser with Murphy playing the 4?

Edit: the Kon/Sensabaugh comparison shows that defense isn’t just athleticism (I think Kon ends up being a way better defender than Sensabaugh)

I meant only on offense :smiling_imp:

I’ll take the shooters every time all else being equal. End of the day it’s still an entertainment product. When the defense goes bad and you have to outscore people it’s still fun to watch a 80-75 game. 19/20, last year, and the last month of this year are just not fun

I know this is down some levels (look at the tape). This is who CTB THINKS BVP is.

This dude shoots below 30% from 3 for his career against D3 competition lmao. BVP put up better numbers at Ohio against far superior teams.
