Iād be good with Garrett as a long term piece. If next year becomes more about development Iād be fine but hoping we can make a splash and still doubt we add more than one guy unless thereās unexpected attrition
Inject :34 into my veins.
No Idea why I completely forgot about Ven Allen Lubin. Heās actually been playing really well despite Vanderbilt being shit. Long arms and good athlete. Better 3pt shooter than most of our guards
edit: Ven Lubin might be the actual one in terms of what we actually need in one player out of the portal (3pt shooting, athletic, rebounding, can get his own bucket, previous relationship with staff as he all but had the offer until Leon committed)
Bliss McKneely Gertrude Lubin Buchanan
Garrett Johnson (who is more of a wing guard), Sharma, Bond, Tucker Anderson, Robinson
Jemison, Cofie, Mallory redshirt?
You redshirt TJ Power?
Coach @Hooandtrue in his end of 2023-24 season exit meetings:

Not as high on TJ Power. Need that shooting wing/forward to be more open to development path. Doubt the 21 year old who just wants to play is as open to that. Unless Tony wants to start him at the 3 or 4 which is a gamble for a kid with no production (Could be a Hunter Sallis/Bradin Podzinski situation or one of those big time whiffs).
Garret Johnson = a mix of Joe Harris and Cormac Ryan (more of a guard/his shot form is oddly similar to McKneelyās)
Tucker Anderson = A mix of Sam Hauser/Trey Murphy (without the crazy hops/more of a stretch 4 with good handles relative to his position but probably not a guard)
Im also just ready for Bliss McKneely Gertrude. Those three next season together could just be straight up better than this yearās team, no offense to my lord and savior REECE!!.
I think Bliss McKneely Gertrude Ven-Lubin Buchanan end of next season is better than this one. Thatās where my hope is.
Really do think Rohde going to like Iowa would be a win-win for both parties. Just a really bad fit for both sides.
Same with Dante really. I dont think heās terrible but I do think heās terrible when trying to operate within our schemes. If Vandy has a new coach that would be a good landing spot close to home. Or WVU.
@Hooandtrue body swaps with Tony and subliminally hits these messages in those meetings. And then tells UVA gear to order new orangeUVA jerseys and tells Carla I want to sign in ink that the blue-orange scrimmage is streamed next fall. And boom body swap back
Where Im at
Groves/Minor = graduated
Dunn/Reece = gone
Gertrude = actually feel confident heās back (and UNC game solidified that heās probably starting at the 3 with an actual offseason)
Starting 4 need = Ven Lubin (versatility on both ends. Yaxel going pro. Maliq not leaving cuse after their winning streak. Jaemyn not that loose a stone at the moment. But I also think Lubin does what they want really well)
If Dante bounches = Chance Mallory Reclass and redshirt
If Rohde leaves = Garrett Johnson from GW
If Leon Bond leaves = London Jemison reclass/maybe redshirt
And I still think we need another 3pt shooter in the front court (where Tucker Anderson comes into play although Garrett Johnson can also slide to the 4) on top of me watching Cofie and thinking āHe has good potential but needs a lot of development/doubt he plays much or impacts next season. Small chance he can be a Ndongo at Georgia Tech but they are also garbage and thatās not what we striving forā.
*and yes im fully aware all these mental exercises are silly and our actual targets are probably still the field vs the names Ive listed in this thread
I am a huge fan of these exercises. At the very least, it makes me explore other teams also not impacting our bubble chances to see who you have us poaching. For this one, tho, I donāt want to trade in one of our most enthusiastic players, redshirt freshman Bond, to restart the development process two years later with the next guy. For all the wailing and gnashing of teeth born out of offensive ineptitude (talk of UVA football being in a better position than basketball on 24/7 is tyranny of the moment at its best), we need our recruits to develop to remain competitive as a program, and missing on Bond would not help. I think he will find his niche next year. Go Hoos, beat BC!
Man Power really made a poor decision choosing Duke honestly given his age.
I donāt see Kon K having issues getting on the court, seems like a dog to me.
Garrett Johnson drilling 3ās from TM3 range is something Iād like to see
Proximity and available academic programs seem to be a fit here.
Shout out @UVApride7 who was way ahead of the curve and talking about him in November.
Most schools canāt pick and sign the exact players they would like to sign.
Was there a player about Rohdeās size who was better than Rohde, that UVa turned down?
Was there a university that is more committed to winning in menās basketball that Rohde turned down?
I donāt follow UVaās menās basketball recruiting closely enough to know the answers to the above questions.
Blue Cain at the end.
Heās a team takeover kid too so Im sure Williford is more than aware of him.
Monsanto removed everything wake forest from his bio and retweeted/pinned his tweet from when he left etsu. Forgot we were involved there

Cade Tyson is now at 46.1% from 3 on the season lol⦠19pt 10 rebounds tonight
Yaxel also had a 20-10 game and a mean poster dunk.
Ven Lubin had 19 pts 12 rebounds 2 blocks in Vandyās upset win over Arkansas on the road.
Tucker Andersonās team on break this week, Garrett Johnson out with a minor injury/has been game time decision the last 2-3 games.
The rest of the players in the country: doing whatever they are doing.
Doubt Tony would take a guy who seems like is quitting on the team
Oh yeah Monsanto is a poor manās Brice Sensabaugh anyways. Chucker who can get hot but otherwise is costing you if not and has an injury history.
