Front court losses: Dunn, Minor, Groves
Gains: Robinson, Cofie ….
and a $500k paid Post???
Who says no?
Edit - never mind - Post has already played games in 5 seasons.
He played all of 21 minutes as freshman year. I wonder if he could get a hardship waiver?
Universal law of fandom is to complain about not playing fast enough. Does anyone complain about playing too fast? Are VMI fans like “hey, we are turning it over on 21% of our possessions, maybe we should chill out a little?”
McKneely: Invited back. But you gotta be confident at the end of games.
Gertrude: Invited back.
Buchanan: Sure. Needs 20 lbs. Not sure if he should be the day 1 starter (COUGH ERIC DIXON COUGH).
Robinson: Yeah
Bliss: Excited for sure.
Taine: Welcome back as a solid bench piece.
Rohde and Dante: we thank you for your services here at UVA. I am so sorry the mutual fit just wasn’t there but we wish you well on your future endeavors. Here’s $70k to GTFO
Best pg available or high ceiling pg with past relationship (Foster or Dilione?)
Tyrell Ward
Ven Lubin
Eric Dixon
Tucker Anderson as a redshirt.
London Jemison as a reclass redshirt or play right away.
I am grateful that the NIL knowledge is helping one of us!!
Two points:
I am hopeful that UVA can do a better job of roster construction & retention with increased NIL investment in the players. One of the big concerns post the National Championship is that our roster construction seems off relative to how Tony wants to play. We need more long athletic players that can defend as well as make shots.
At the reception in Florida, Tony made reference to needing a sports psychologist to deal with the free throw issues (this was right after the Wake game). Unfortunately, the FT shooting issue was front and center in the ACC tournament. Under tournament pressure, we seem to wilt in the biggest moments and do not make good decisions (exclusive of 2019). This may be a recency bias for me but the Kihei pass at the end of the Furman game (McKneely also missed the front-end of a 1X1 late) and not fouling before NC State got the last shot off felt awfully familiar. We seem to be overly willing to rely on our defense in these situations. Hopefully Tony will be introspective here and get the team better prepared for these late game situations.
Because Tony is more tight than the opposing coach? Been a thing as far back as the first Michigan State game. Glad to hear the talk about the players needing a sports psychologists but really they are feeding off the energy Tony puts off. He needs a find a way to relax. Might need a sports psychologist himself or at the very least some breathing exercises
