šŸˆ Elliott's Offense: Three Years In

Oof, trigger warning. Was in the stands for the Gregg Brandon era kicking off with a home loss to W&M. Could feel the whole stadium coming to a shared realization of a lost season.

I’m with you - Year 1 and 2, it was pretty clear to me he was in over his head. This year, I actually leveled out a bit as he had the guys playing hard - despite a couple of missed opportunities. Unfortunately, that’s come to a pretty quick halt.

I’ll admit I’ve been pretty wrong about the QB assessments between Armstrong and AC though haha

I would hope he’s playing for his job next week. Probably not true. I’ve got to think he sees the writing on the wall either way, but can’t imagine he would give up the money to bail.

Hard to believe from the photo but Rod Smith was one helluva QB in his day, was a big son of a bitch though. I sacked him once and it still felt like he won the encounter.

I’m in favor. Rod Smith for OC, Mark Byington for hoops HC. Like reliving my 90s.

I agree it didn’t work with Bronco, but with London we DID have a season where Coordinators were jettisoned and high-profile folks were brought in and it didn’t save the day.

Forgetting about Groh or do you think that HE fired his own son voluntarily?

What do you consider ā€œworkingā€ in this situation? Was London going along with it, but not
Improving, working? Or was Bronco retiring instead of accepting the change working?

Elliott had a chance to retain or promote Smith. He didn’t. That ship has sailed.

Whatever uva football has not done in the last 2+ decades.

I’m so sick of football. I grew up in an era where it was fun to go to uva football games even though we sucked. Then along comes George welsh to ruin the experience by introducing winning to the equation.

Kids these days are so soft. They want to wear orange t shirts and win games. Back in my day we wore blazers and ties and were happy to attend games expecting to lose because it was fun anyways.

Now it’s no longer fun to lose. Bring back the fun losing! We have half of the equation down pat.

Ok all of this was a lie but wouldn’t it be fun if we all embraced it?

Often forgot there was a game going on but we had a great time win or lose.
