Freitag’s aau teammate commits to Wisconsin on his official visit (that Freitag was supposed to join him on).

Edit:

“Robison chose UW over Minnesota, Nebraska, South Florida, St. Thomas, and Northern Iowa. The three-star wing, who has yet to start his junior season, was also hearing from Virginia, Iowa, Iowa State, and others.”

I remember seeing the tweets mentioning UVA interest but not sure if genuine interest or just chatting up another kid cause might as well while up in Minnesota to watch Freitag and Chatman

The talk on the Minnesota board is that Freitag will most likely go to a “big time” program.

Also funny that they question if the UVA offer is committable and ask if UVA has bigger targets? LOL if only they knew. I think they think we are big time recruiting wise cause we just popped up and took Ryan Dunn like it was nothing.

If not Villanova, Michigan could be a big school for Caleb Williams. Lots of Team Takeover connections (Dug McDaniel, Hunter Dickinson, Terrance Williams).

Also just realized that we are saving all the 2024 officials for our basketball games since having them visit for a football weekend would be a horrendous waste. I am slow.

Good thing he doesn’t wear 42.

Behind a paywall I dont have access to but I remember last summer when we offered Brice Sensabaugh (now at Ohio State) after he went 0-12 from 3. Also @HoozGotNext has mentioned in the past we offered Huff I think after he got dominated by Bam Adebyo in a high school game somewhere in North Carolina.

TB has some real gems. How you react from a loss tells you tons

Damn Huff was fighting though. Lots of blocks for him too. Like how Huff is gone from like half the video to what I assume was foul trouble lol

St. Thomas?

Hmm, Kihei will be 25 when the class of ‘24 comes in? I feel like that’s pushing it for a Plan A. It’s doable with back to back medical redshirts, and he could have a PhD by the time he finished but I think it’s a bridge too far.

Freitag had a pretty ridiculous summer. If he repeats it on the big 17U stage next year, he’ll have five stars next to his name.

Man that was a really cool read! Wonder if Belein would be interested in an OC/AHC position for next year after J Willy gets the Richmond job?

Love that Tony is more well known lately for being one of the best for talent spotting. Feel like this story, the Gertrude and Buchanan On3 and rivals stories, the Klay podcast are some of the best press we’ve received in awhile.

Mooney is under contract through the end of the 2027 season; he was just re-upped after last year. The buyout is probably not small.

Oof hadn’t seen that. I know a couple of my family friends are U of R alums and they hate that Mooney’s tenure has become an acceptable standard for them. Doesn’t make it easier that VCU has become VCU during his tenure.

VCU has been to NCAA’s 3/6 years (and they were awful 19-20 so yeah weren’t going) after going 7 straight seasons 2011-2017 under Shaka and Will Wade. That’s obviously better than UR but that’s not exactly the standard VCU is striving for. Big year for Rhoades.
