🏈 Football 2024-2025 Head Coach Wishlist

Legit question is there modern history that shows academy coaches prospering post academy?

I’m hesitant on those coaches because yes they recruit with restrictions but they also have no track record of out recruiting P5 or G5 coaches. They arent competing for their arhletes generally not at the highest levels.

Who’s done it and done it well recently?

They just don’t turnover that much. The only one to leave in the “modern” era was pushed out in Ken Niumatalolo so different situation but he is now doing well at San Jose State!

I’d much rather try with Monken than a P5 coordinator, I think his floor is much higher. Just feels like he’d be very competent wherever he went.

Have you heard of George Welsh? IIRC his teams were on ESPN. What about Paul Johnson? He won the ACC more than once.

I’d take his brother because he can coach a legit and competent offense.

No thank you to Jeff.

Any competent admin would be aggressively pursuing a new HC right now. This business, and it is a business, is failing miserably and harming the financial standing of our athletic programs. Would be idiotic from a business perspective to bring back this management team.

George welsh who last coachedin 1999? Paul Johnson who’s been out of the game for over a decade? I said given me a recent example. The game is nowhere need the same as what Welsh coached and its shifted enough that Johnson is a stretch at best.

You are incorrect about PJ. He coached against Bronco and that was not 10 years ago

We’re not actually gonna move on from CTE though right? Especially considering where we are with the AD and MBB

Stoops, Odom or Monken and I’ll be thrilled

Okay so paul johnson is the example to take. Have fun on that hill

Not sure… 247 is usually decent with football stuff and I saw a comment from a reliable guy saying there’s talks to remove Elliott. I’m not subbed so there were certain things I couldn’t see. Problem is the AD and new basketball coach possibly.

It would be interesting. At this point, interesting sounds nice

Uva doesn’t give 2 f’s about football. Never have never will. The po’s who run things would love nothing more to be a gd Ivy League school supporting every gd protest known to man. Didn’t we have a president who called football jocular or some dumb shit like that.

You’re spot on. Im all for supporting protest (i am a politician after all) but just because you do that doesnt mean you have to abandon your football program.

It’s sad
We are soft at every position
Even our kicking game
So very sad.

Theres a missing spark at all positions.

No one runs dangerously with the intent of inflicting pain.

Let this sink in
Last 3 games we were out scored 105-38
The 14 against nd and 7 against Smu were against 3rd and 4th team dudes.
VPI was/is awful but they get up for our game.
Time to move on Tex!

Do you expect Tony Elliott to still be Virginia’s head coach in a week?

1-6 down the stretch with 5 of them blowouts.

I was all for giving Tony the fourth year but his team fell apart and showed no signs of life or improvement.

I’ll always put program before individual and for the good pf the program it’s time to move forward.

Lotta seniors on this years roster too. Very hard for him to sell an upward trajectory to the admin.

But they’ll still give him another year
