The name I keep seeing pop up for them is Tony Gibson. There also seems to be a contingent of their fanbase who want Rich Rod back.
There are no bad ideas when brainstorming
What if we bring Mike London back? He knows UVA, has a winning record at William & Mary of all places, and Iāve heard heās a really good dude. He also used to be a cop!
You have my interest had he learned to read a clock? Can we bring his whole go go offense and maybe just have him shake hands and not coach?
You joke but I bet you thereās some pockets of our fanbase who would be all for bringing him back. Donors fuckin loved that guy.
I have to imagine by now somebody has taught him that you actually need to recruit linemen every year and not solely stock up on dudes with CB/ATH designations. So heās probably pretty great.
I mean to be honest, while it would obviously be the dumbest thing anyone has ever done, hiring him again would be a relief in some ways. Itād be like taking my sickly UVA football fandom out behind the shed and putting it down for good. It might be freeing.
Iāve spent about 48 hours in Ohio in my life, but I always enjoy the specificity of your Ohio burns. Even though I donāt know the details. (except I feel like I can figure them out). Also, Iād probably enjoy a barnyard buster.
Thanks i like to paint a picture with my words.
A barn yard buster is the 2nd best late night meal in ohio
2nd only to 2 cheese coneys and gravy cheese fries at PRCs
I am just thankful that my Cincinnati Reds are in Kentucky. Cause my KY bros and me love the Reds
Ha close but Great American Ballpark is on the Oh side of the river
Dammit I know!
Totally agree. My first reaction to the poll was āAAAAHHHHHā.
But after a second I realized my objection to CRS is that heās fine and weāre used to āfantasticā so heās disappointing. But with CTE, the objection is that heās actually bad.
The tradeoff is that giving CRS only one more year is basically impossible and Iām not excited about giving him a 4 year deal or whatever, whereas keeping CTE for one more year is a football concern but isnāt a logistical problem like it is for CRS. Heck, weād even save more than CRSās salary doing it.
So, with the question the poll asks, giving CRS another year is the easy answer. But in the real world, if we could only do one, Iād very reluctantly give the year to CTE and resign myself to a 2-10 season.
Same donors who donāt want Al Golden because heās tied to Al Groh love Mike London even though he was an assistant under Groh longer than Golden was. Sure, that makes sense.
My first reaction was that itās incredibly stupid as well. But London was the antithesis of Groh when it came to courting donors, again for all his faults he entered in as a very, very popular choice and stayed longer than he should have because of his relationship with our donor base.
If Mike London had never coached here and instead had a failed P4 stint at say Wake or Vandy or NC State, you could talk me into him as a candidate. Not a top choice candidate, but not an automatic no either. If he had similar success at a G5 like ODU rather than his success at the FCS level, heād be a candidate somewhere. Hell, maybe in a few years after ODU and Rahne part, they will hire London.
Looking further down the road, if youāre looking for UVA alum coaching incubators, Londonās staff and Mendenhallās staff are filled with them.

You might be onto something there. If that was the scenario, I could easily be talked into London as a legit option.
Iād imagine they wouldāve fired him by now if it was going to happen.
Yeah, UNC took care of business last week. Purdue and WVU fired their coaches yesterday. UCF coach resigned to take the FSU OC job. No point in waiting if youāre not a bowl team and your season is done. Purdue only gave Walters 2 years, so 3 years isnāt too short a time period to assess a coach.
But Iāve already accepted that Elliott will get a year 4 as a lame duck forā¦reasonsā¦
Iām not sure even a 6-6 bowl eligible season saves him in 2025. Nor should it.
Transfer portal opens next Monday Dec 9. Surprised we havenāt had transfer declarations yet.
