All for freedom but when you got 18 year olds rocking massive gold chainsā¦ā¦ The look and players just looking for the payout instead of the right coach and school it backfires. Young men hit adversity one time and bounce instead of grinding.
First amendment and I just donāt think the majority of them are using the money the right way. Iām also more for freedom than pretty much anyone in here.
Iād like to see NIL $$ allocated based on team success, then personal success, then tenure at a school. Not sure how it would work but Iād like to see highest paid players be (a) āwinnersā that are (b) immensely talented/skilled and have (c) stayed at their respective school the longest.
Something has to give eventually in regard to regulation.
Guys I just ran the numbers and you wonāt believe what I found out
This is right. It was sort of the fallacy that The Fab 5 or whoever were selling jerseys but they couldnt profit from said sales. But lets say they deserved something, so then the guys say every player that wears black shoes and socks going forward I should be paid from
The slope got mo slippery than vaseline
And give it will sooner than later. Our savior new quarterback from 3 or 4 prior Texas schools I assume is getting around 1 million to come to UVa. And lets be honest. That just placates the current situation with nothing proven
And where is 30k equivalent to tuition anymore? I assume that is where the arbitrary number came from.
30k is what the Russians pay their student athletes and it is capped
I have multiple thoughts on this⦠first if weāre offering that kind of money for him, why not throw the $$ at Omarion Hampton?
I know Demond is from VA, and weād like to load up with the home state talent. I get it for the idea of taking the tech game seriously or maybe better said more personal. But my question is does it really matter on that level if weāre having to pay high $$ to get those guys around anyways?
I also have plenty of thoughts on how the NIL market should work and how free tuitions should work but Iāll save everyone that misery and keep it over here haha
Is there anyway the NCAA can āfixā the mistakes or put more restrictions in? Seems like the wild Wild West now. All for guys getting paid from their own name and etc.
Thatās the whole problem sauce. NCAA wouldnāt come down on the cheaters when it was illegal to pay anything⦠you really think theyāll come down with a firm hand now that the cheats are more or less skirting the rules as opposed to full on breaking them?
The entire problem here is the NCAA not just sticking it to the programs who shouldāve been held accountable long ago⦠if anyone took the ncaa seriously as a governing agency the problems wouldnāt be happening.
Also if we are talking free market non commie shit. The Fing NCAA is the one that should be paying the revenue earning players, not the schools that have provided scholarships and been forced into bidding wars
True that!
Solid post. Totally agree
Not laughing at the idea, because youāre spot on, but laughing at the idea of it actually happening.
I read one of those anonymous industry comment articles on the Athletic where I thought a coach had a good take by saying the athletes should be treated as part of a schoolās marketing budget. To me they sit part way between marketing and donor relations/giving in a weird way.
The NCAA is the monst gangster out of all of this. They were finally forced to pay players and then they found a way to pass the buck on to schools and private business. They managed to grow their cut and not cost a thing.
Iām real curious how schools handle the upcoming revenue sharing. How many will actually spend anything close to the $20M or whatever salary cap. So far theyāve been able to pass the buck on all this.
And will it lead to players making more? Or is it basically going to be the same pool of money from the same sources, now filtered through the schools.
Like NWA so profoundly rapped⦠F The Police back in the day
What counts as revenue? Can BYUās Qualtrics billionaire just spend $20 mil and they hit the cap?
