That non conference NC State game is atrocious. Like, why?
Thatās O/U 4.5 wins to me. Must beat CC and W&M. Should beat Stanford and Wake at home. Then 40-60% chance of winning vs WSU, @Cal and @NC State. I feel like weāll be big underdogs in the rest presuming FSU bounces back. vs VT, @UL, @Duke and @UNC feel hopeless.
Removed FIU WR Eric Rivers from the visitor list. Was originally supposed to visit this week, then rescheduled. Writing was on the wall.
With where we are as a program can someone explain ANY reason weāre not scheduling 4 cream puff OOC games? But no, we schedule NC State and an 8 win west coast program from an area we never recruit.
Iām not of the opinion Elliott is the guy, but at least set him up for a chance at some success.
Does someone know why we are playing West Virginia in Charlotte in 2026? I think I mustāve missed that announcement.
⦠also in 2032⦠odd.
Proly cause that John Denver song is actually about North Carolina
Yeah. Our ceiling is higher with that schedule than last year (weird calling it last year already, but here we are) but the floor isnāt really much better. We still only have 2 cake-walk-ish OOC wins, just like last year. The conference schedule should be easier, but FSU bouncing back would take away a chunk of that.
Its certainly an easier schedule than last year, but if the team doesnāt take a step forward (and with the huge losses, I wouldnāt be shocked if they actually take a step back), they could end up with the same or even a worse record.
I think weāll upgrade at QB and downgrade everywhere else this year. Probably 4-5 wins again.
Thatās where Iām leaning right now without any real insight into the roster
Brutal first game for a brand new head coach.
I assume money, but it still makes no sense for either fanbase.
We continue to schedule really really dumb
Utah might be following the Vandy model.
Assuming Beck is still going to be running air raid at Utah?
Yeah probably still Anaeās version of the air raid, Go fast go hard or whatever the fuck he called it.
Basically a mix of Mike Leach and Rich Rodās schemes, lots of quick read passing concepts and heavy QB run.
Man, we need difference makers or at least mean ass brawlers on the OL. We can always find fat bodies to take a schollie but we need some real talent at some point.
Some teams rue portal losses ⦠we are at place where need to embrace it. Like an overdue flush.
Circling back to Smiley having extra eligibility because of the shooting tragedy and the NCAAās established precedent of granting waivers:
Itās a paywall article, but the bottom line is that while thereās no blanket ruling from the NCAA on UVA players from the '22 season, UVA and the NCAA have been fairly consistent about pursuing and awarding waivers for that year.
So what that means for this offseason, of course Smiley is transferring. But Jahmeer Carter could in theory come back to help with our DL issue, basically shore up the middle so we only need to focus on DE/Edge. Other names that could be applicable (my own homework, not part of the article, so I admittedly could have it wrong) are James Jackson, Jonas Sanker, Sackett Wood, and Daniel Sparks.
Aidan Ryan in the portal.
