What years was he there? Before or after RAF Upper Heyford was closed?
now itās all about private markets. PE, PC, Infrastructure, etc. There is a big push to get private markets in 401ks. The initial implementation of this is allowing target date funds to allocate a percentage to privates. Usually about 10%. All the big private market companies are all over it, because even at 10% theres a trillion+ dollar opportunity.
He was there after it closed. There in 2000-2004.
I was there 2004 - 2007⦠i bet i just missed him.
He was 3P tsgt I believe or ssgt. Guarded the satellites we had
Yep⦠i was the deputy squadron commander for the comm squadron there.. he wouldve been in the security forces squadronā¦
Funny story when i was there⦠we had to give an LOR to a SrA for wrecking a police car ⦠she claimed to be swerving to avoid killing a rabbit. There were a million rabbits.
Security forces always in trouble lol.
Enjoying this thread, I like to dabble with stocks, trade using account on investment brokers IBKR. I probably would be just as well off putting it all in VOO/SPY, but more fun this way.
Have about 65 stocks, but set up small recurring purchases for 25-30.
AAPL ABT ADI AMZN APD CMCSA COST CSCO GOOG HD JNJ KO LLY LMT MA MCD MSFT NEE NVS PEP RTX SNY TSM UNH UNP V VZ WMT
Anyone have favorite stocks they love for long haul? Any of my recurring ones Iām an idiot for continuing to buy?
I think LLY just upped their dividend maybe? I could be wrong
Good mix and if you dig it its great. SPY gets all that as noted
Ever sell calls against stuff since you are active?
FWIW - I was an equity analyst for ~15 years (Citi, DB, Wells) and left to start my own shop 6 years ago - and havenāt made a PA trade in at least a decade.
Real estate and private credit baby. Public equities have been a shitty way to express a trade for at least the past 15-20 years.
We had to have been at Citi together. I was 2000-2003 then 2011-2015 on the boomerang
I donāt know much about stocks. I did purchase spy a couple weeks ago. Should i sell and buy more when it goes down?
Just stay long it in my opinion (non professional advice)
NOT STOCK ADVICE
Conventional wisdom is that timing the market is extremely difficult, if not impossible and no one can do it with any regularity that would indicate a skill rather than luck.
Iām holding while preparing to buy on the coming dipā¦gotta happen eventually right? September is historically the worst month of the year for the market, so around then is the consensus opinion. I think it would have happened by now if not for the sour employment numbers a couple weeks agoā¦it raised the odds of an interest rate cut next month to near certainty and sent the market higher. Itās all a blip on the radar long term anyway, should be a good rest of the year.
Iām with @Jwhelan33 on VOO over SPYā¦same thing just a slightly lower expense ratio or whatever itās called. I think SPY is more for active traders, VOO for holders.
Same with @HoozGotNext on VOO.
Dip coming, donāt try to buy it. Tariffs + unreliable gov economic data that private capital is underplaying at their own peril + we popping an AI bubble in the next 2-3 years. book it.
Dragon Checks thread immediately goes back outside to dig a second hole in the yard. Gotta diversify your assets.
Come for the basketball discussion. Stay for the amateur investment advice and Arbyās coupon reminders.
Brother, I got holes in clay, holes in mulch, holes in shale rock. You name it. Assets are as diverse as they get.
