Next up Bradley Beal (Quentin Coleman) vs Oakland. Coleman off to a quick start, 9 points in the quarter. on the NBA tv stream.
It hit me who Lucas Morillo reminds me ofâŚJosiah James. Both bigger guys who like to be called point guards and kinda were in HS. James didnât really shoot 3s either. Both really good but nobody knew how to project them.
James was a solid player at Tennessee, even if a little disappointing from the recruiting perspective. Became a wing/occasional small 4. Developed into a respectable three-point shooter, great defender. Morillo isnât as athletic but similar mold.
Back to back strong corner 3 misses for Coleman. Screams future NOAH system victim
Coleman is about to get popularâŚthis is a pretty impressive performance given the competition. Wake offered this week, should be a flood more coming.
Getting into the 2nd time around todayâŚwatching Utah Prospects (Junior County) vs Pro Skills (Bryson Howard)
8pm game, more Cole Cloer. CP3 vs Mac Irvin
Where Odom spends the last game of the night will be kinda interesting, Lucas Morrillo or Quintin Coleman, or split it I guess.
So they didnât stay long at Cloerâs game. Slid over for Vegas Elite vs Drive Nation. I think theyâre looking at forward Maximo Adams for Vegas. He had a big game when they saw him against Cloer earlier today.
Hilarious blurb on his 247 page:
Older brother Marcus Adams Jr. was the No. 51 ranked player in the class of 2023. He originally enrolled at Kansas before leaving, briefly committing to Gonzaga and then going to BYU. Transferred to Cal-State Northridge for his sophomore season where he was second team All-Big West and heâs now enrolled at Arizona State after another transfer.
Edit: the transfer out of BYU was apparently motivated by family tragedy that happened at home in CA in the spring semester, so only the 2023 summer transfers are amusing.
I donât know for sure that Maximo was the attraction there but if so he passed the test. He went for 24 and 11 and looks like a stud to me . If there are 40 better than him in the class like the ranking say, itâs a hell of a year.
last game of the night, Odom and Henry have been watching the Oakland Soldiers vs MoKan game. Not sure what thatâs about. I think Henry has some MoKan ties, so probably something on that side.
They disappeared at halftime, off to the hotel I assume. Thatâs the end of todayâs programming. Weâll resume at 9:30 am.
Recruiting the Other Trent Perry (who is on MoKan) might activate PTSD on this board (Post-Trent Stress Disorder).
You down with OTP?
Yeah, you know me
Bryce Crawford might be at Adidas. Followed two adidas kids yesterday.
Both Henry and Aldrich started following Prolific Prep staff recently. Maybe for Davion Adkins or maybe just in general
Gibson playing vs Team Herro in the PIT right now (morning game before peach jam games).
Eyes too tired to see if Odom is one of the coaches court side. Box score tells me Vaughn Carvana (who Tony would have gone hard after) is out and in his place is a Knueppel playing up a grade.
Gibson with the rare efficient game so far, 9 pts on 4-6 from the field.
Also that Quentin Coleman kid gives me some Reece vibes with his probing, steals, and sneaky explosive athleticism
edit: 22pts on 9/14 and 2/3 from 3pt land
Iâm getting close to hitting the alarm button with Christian Gibson. Thereâs no sign of UVA so far. I wait until the weekend is over to draw conclusions but so far not looking good.
Trio there this morning. Griff joined Odom and Henry. Henry was out early for 8am 16u games. Then Griff and Odom showed up for the 9:30 set.
They were watching Team Melo vs Bradley Beal 16s. 2027 Sidwell forward Ian Condon maybe, or St. Johnâs guard Jymin Veney. Then OdomGriff moved at halftime to the Thad vs CP3 16u game. Thad has the Oak Hill guard Lincoln Vinson that caught their attention in June.
For the folks like me who havenât followed HS recruiting as closely this go round - are we not showing a ton of interest here, hence the alarm? I saw where he said we were his âdream schoolâ but thatâs as far as I know about his recruitment.
Either 1) They feel good about him and have made him known he is a top priority target and are instead using this time to get caught up on 2027s which begins in September or 2) The inefficiencies at time are a turn off for them.
The âUVA is my dream schoolâ comment could also be Gibson feeling UVA drifting away and trying to get them back in the fold.
The box score is behind but Gibson has at least 30+ points now on efficient numbers.
Heâs had a really good week tbh (team Herro game ongoing, heâs over 30pts)
11am setâŚOdomGriff standing off to the side watching CP3 (Cole Cloer) vs Drive Nation.
