They were one of the first programs to start recruiting me at VCU, and then they moved to Virginia. I love the way they play. VCU was just smaller before, so I wasn’t necessarily trying to go there. But now that they made the move to Virginia, I was like ‘All right, let’s do something.’ Because I love coach Odom. Great coach. Great person on and off the floor. I mean Virginia, great program. People always talk about how great Charlottesville is. They’re in the ACC, a basketball conference. It’s a great program.” The official visits Cloer has locked in are Louisville (Aug. 30), Florida (Sept. 6), UConn (Sept. TBD), North Carolina (Oct. 10) and Alabama (Oct. 18). He’s still working on setting Indiana, NC State and Virginia. Cloer said he’ll cut it down again from eight to three or four. As for a decision timeline?“There’s no point to really put a timeline on it,” Cloer said. “I could commit after my first official visit, or I could wait until after Christmas. I’m open to whatever, so.” An important factor in Cloer’s decision will be development.

He originally said UVA was the 30th in an old interview but Louisville has that visit date in the article.
I’m curious about how quickly they’re able to get a sense of who is gettable and who isn’t. I imagine there’s a little bit of an adjustment from recruiting at A10/MWC level, though the overall idea of how to calibrate your sense is probably similar.
I get the feeling UVA wanted a later visit with Cloer. All this visit date talk before now is preliminary. No guarantee they’ll get one but probably will.

Oh I’d say they have a shot but they’re probably 3rd or 4th, it’s an uphill fight for sure. Florida/UConn/UNC.
It’s not so much will they get a visit scheduled but will he come off the board before then.

It slows down from here at Peach Jam…2 games at a time in the 17u championship division. Ends up with coaches just kinda sitting in place, watching what’s in front of them.
Not much of interest with the big boys in the 2pm slot. So Odom and Griff are over watching a 15u game. Team Melo vs Team Takeover. 2028 DMV kids. Braxton Bogard is one to know for sure, probably Xavier Skipworth from Bullis.
Damn I was almost counting on him. Not saying I thought he was a given but he felt like someone we could realistically close on.
2nd half, Griff-Odom slid over for Team Final vs Expressions. Luca Foster is injured I assume, hasn’t played this week. Team Final guard Aiden Derkak is getting good reviews. But they’re probably there for Expressions 2027 big man Nicolas Mitrovic.
3:30 games…Odom and Griff have been watching Pro Skills (Bryson Howard) vs Team Durant. Which is a little interesting, they’re skipping Junior County vs the Takeover crew. I wonder if they’re eyeing someone other than Howard.
