Jordan Smith Jr at 6-2 is guarding a 6-9/6-10 guy and just closed out and blocked a 3pt attempt by the tall dude. Wild

We have bags now.

Latrell Allmond, Bo Ogden, Deron Rippley Jr, Cam Williams (Compton Magic forward who lists UVA interest), Cody Peck all going to the Adidas Euro Camp (which is basically the Adidas circuit all stars). Top 15 kids in Adidas

He’s absurd. I look forward to draft people completely overthinking his height two years from now.

I don’t know if this is confirmed but he apparently has a 6’9 wingspan, which is insane for his height.

My current comp for him is Victor Oladipo.

Would love to know what his final price ending up being. Think it landed barely in the 2s. Prob could’ve gotten more earlier in the process. Great advice wherever he was getting it from.

Pretty obvious Haggerty was always just looking for the highest bidder

Yep, we have zero brand in NOVA. Doesn’t have to be that way but it is.

I mean he probably will end up going to Duke, but the ā€œbrandā€ aspect of Paul VI is definitely different with Odom coaching than Bennett.

Vaughn Karvala out of Wisconsin has been really good this aau season. Just lead Team herro/Phenom to a win over Tyran Stokes and Oakland soldiers. Tony would have been all over him :sob: :sob:

On the bright side, we are saved from 100 ham-fisted comparisons to Kody Stattmann on the basis of floppy hair alone.

Uzan back to Houston; curious to see how they shake out next season, because they’ve got a mostly inexperienced roster, but they’ve got high-end young talent and the returners they do have are key guys (Uzan and Tugler especially).

And then from the draft perspective, I’m curious how many early-entry guys stay in without a first round promise. There are some guys who are going to be very close calls: Yaxel, Tahaad, Miles Byrd, RJ Luis (maybe - Hollinger thinks he’s very likely to return to college)

Tipton just announced today Yaxel is out of the draft and headed to Michigan.

Houston seems like a safe bet for preseason #2 or #1 with Florida now that they have Fland.

And Purdue I think?

I also like Purdue as a #1 contender. Heide and Colvin were good role players for them, but pretty replaceable IMO, especially with Cox and Harris being quite good in reserve roles. They return a lot (70% of last season’s minutes) and then add quality players in Cluff and Omer Mayer. They don’t even really need a lot from their additions; Smith and TKR are enough of an offensive engine by themselves that even if their additions are merely quality role players, they’d be happy with that.

Purdue, Houston, Louisville are the 3 teams next year I am the most sure will be pretty good enough to win a title. (Louisville’s Khalifa stuff throws a bit of a wrench in that though)

After that Duke, Kentucky, St. John’s, Florida, Michigan, Iowa State, Illinois, Tennessee, Alabama, Auburn, BYU (lol), Texas Tech are the teams I think are/could be contenders in some order based on how well pieces fit, but I have more questions with each of them. This is my ā€œprobably good enough to win a title but want to see it firstā€ tier.

And with Louisville, I’m not even 100% sure their ceiling is as high as the rest of these, especially if Khalifa is for sure out, but I think they are a near lock to be pretty good.

Purdue has about as good of two players returning as you can have in the modern era + some other continuity contributors. I’m sure it’s happened elsewhere, but who since the portal era started has had TWO 1st team all-conference guys return at a high major?

Houston as last year’s #2 and with what they have returning and coming in feels like the easy pre-season #1 nod though.

Safe to say things have really slowed down… not a bad thing after the insanity of the last few months.

Yeah, there is an unfortunate spring sports vacuum we’re not at all used to happening at the moment. Normally just finished lax final four in preparation for CWS.

Right now its just NBA decisions which we’re not waiting on, and De Ridder which is a blackbox with no timeline.

Guys will be on grounds and we’ll have grainy video to dissect again soon enough though!
