But for non-Hoos games, UNC vs Texas Tech in Richmond in the 1996 NCAAs. Because Darvin Ham shattered the backboard glass on Jeff McInnes (15 feet from me!) and the Heels got destroyed after the long layoff.
In person, craziest and most memorable was actually the 1993 ACC Championship game in Rock Hill vs Maryland that went 3OTs as the Hoos prevailed. It just happened to be a women’s game and I was fortunate enough to be in the building. But it was legit.
The best games I’ve been to were the Singletary Duke game, the JPJ opener, and the game against New Mexico at the Richmond Coliseum during our last NIT title run because it was my first UVA hoops game.
Other fun, but not as notable, games I’ve been to and would add are the JPJ game against Gonzaga where we basically had literal flame throwers the entire first half, the Arizona game at U Hall where we upset 10th ranked Arizona rather easily, and the 1996 home game against Wake where we upset the Deacs who had Tim Duncan (was able to score tickets the day of the game).
