Danny Neckel got so fucking tired of sharing stats about how horrible our football team was that he’s already pivoting to gassing up basketball two weeks before the preseason scrimmage
I need more fotos of True at games or anywhere for that matter
Self-portrait while you’re stalking 2025s online?
Next year. Still too many 2024s to watch clips on.
I know over on 247 they are in full meltdown mode about Tony Elliot. I get the reports bout locker room bein toxic but they are just going crazy about how bad we are. Yes we do suck and offense looks like crap. Truthfully it’s been our qb play looks pretty bad. Only lookin at one wr and jus some dog s*** throws but let’s be real did we really think we would win 8 games this year?
Buddy sent me this and while I don’t agree with all of this “when a coach comes in he has to be able to get his side of the ball right” really resonates.

I was at the Duke game about 3 rows up from the Virginia bench. Some of the interactions between players and staff were super interesting/concerning. Faumui was uncontrollable by anyone other than himself. None of the coaches could reign his emotions in. Antonio Clary came off the field in the first half with Coach E trying to talk to him and blew right past him. Elliott was really not happy about that interaction. Small sample size but it definitely appears there is a disconnect or respect issue in the locker room.
Interesting observations. Without wanting to generalize too much, the Faumui interactions sounds like a definite cultural difference/break down that upon hearing it I’m not surprised by, if Coach Elliott is not used to that particular culture he will lack the ability to connect. Honestly everything everyone is reporting makes sense, but I also don’t think it’s the end of the world not yet at least.
Worth noting Bronco is one of the most extreme coaches out there in terms of culture. Hindsight being 20/20 it makes sense that there’s a divide. Not worried about it
Rip Tyrone
Left us too early!
Did a great job of impersonating Herman while at Uva.
There is going to be flare ups between players who were brought in under previous staffs, seen if first hand.
As far as our situation it’s unique. We are trying to be a balanced team on the offensive side with an OLine that is basically the scout team. Tough to do but we have shown some flashes of opening up some good size lanes to run in.
To date I’m most concerned about our receiver play.
They look very disinterested, not making sharp cuts, rounding off routes. BA’s body language is piss poor and his frustration with his receiver play is obvious. He is far from blame as well. His mechanics have fallen like my 401k of late. Duke did a great job of exploiting his struggles and now there is a blueprint. If we don’t get that l cleaned up it will be a long two months.
Again, why is Duke not having these same struggles when Elko inherited a much worse situation? Cause we got blown out by them.
Man @CavTex needs his own show (with me as a host of course) but love this breakdown. Horrible combination of the expected flare-ups/growing pains of new regime etc. A poor Oline that basically hampers everything (although they have shown some moments when they can just run block).
But the quoted text is the biggest key to me. The WR’s have been checked out from day one, and I get it they went from running routes 75% of the time to not on the field or run blocking 45-55% of the time. That’s a big change esp. for the young guys. The line of the year for me was from the ODU game when the color guy commented on Wicks walking through a route and BA being forced to go on his own and run it. If your lack of effort is glaring enough that the color guy calls you out on national TV. That’s not a coaching problem that’s a you problem. The 1 thing you can control in a game is your effort.
BA… I’m tired of kicking this dead horse and we’re barely out of the first month of the season. He is so inaccurate it’s painful to watch. Combine that with his going full emo and sulking/frustrated, it’s not fun to watch. The technical skill part is gone and that dog won’t hunt. But BA has full control of his emotion of attitude on the field and he’s letting it drop. Out here looking like Moopy Dick
I heaed this terrible news yesteerday as well. He was a couple years younger but great dude who could also hoop big time. As @CavTex said he became our Herman Moore after Herman.
Posting his episode from the Lockdown for those interested and with time to listen. Its really good
Every situation is unique. I also think Duke came in with 0 expectations and Virginia had overinflated ones. Last season as the exception not the norm and for all the stats and flash it was a 6-6 team that was 2 missed FG shy of 4-8. The oline is in shambles and we’ve all said that but it cannot be stated enough if a team has a trash oline the team will be trash. Look at the NFL and the Dolphins a year ago the had the worst Oline in football history historically speaking and Tua looked like BA this year. Fast forward they get some weapons on the outsdie but more importantly build the infrastructure and suddenly Tua looks like the No.1 draft pick again.
But then that same oline almost got him killed… so what do I know.
Why wasnt the oline addressed since we know that was going to be an issue since last December?
Addressed how? Oline 'R Us? This is what happens when a coach his hired late in the recruiting cycle and generally speaking Oline players aren’t great as first years so recruiting couldn’t help it. Not a ton of those monsters in the transfer portal. The well was dry and it takes time to fill back up.
I’m the wrong person to answer this for many reasons, but I’ve never let that stop me, so some thoughts:
- Occam’s razor: maybe Elko is a better coach than Elliott
- Cutcliffe hadn’t been good in years. Losing record for 3 years in a row. Hadn’t had a winning ACC record since 2014. In other words, there was little or no controversy surrounding his departure (unlike Bronco).
- I don’t pay nearly enough attention to tell you anything about Duke’s recent recruiting, or departures when Cutcliffe left, or transfer recruiting under Elko. Maybe it’s left them with much better talent.
- Plus, let’s not overstate this. They whooped us good, for sure. But other than that, they’ve beaten an FCS (1-AA) team and a team ranked 120 of 131 (Temple), 111 of 131 (Northwestern) (all rankings from the Athletic). Hooray for them, I guess.
