Same for me with Dre. Tough to watch him stand in the corner and hope for an offensive rebound or kick out every 10 plays
So hereās what I found on the Pels salary and upcoming seasons.
CPl things: I did not know McCollum was on that type of money.
Ingramās deal is coming up a lot sooner than later
Zionās already locked up and man that could look like an awful deal in 4 seasons
Treyās got a team then a player option for 24 then 25 so that could cost him a bit there
Regardless they have a ton of guys who have overachieved who will be due payment in the next 2-3 yrs that teams window may close before it opens.

As great as Zion looks when he plays, heās just hurt too much for that max deal IMO.
Trey is just scratching the surface of how good he can be. The second half of this season the light has really come on with his confidence and knowing he needs to play more like an alpha.
My problem with CJ is how they use him. Heās a 2, and plays a lot as the lead guard. I wish heād look for his own shot a little less, because heās not always super efficient.
BI is a stud. Heās still young, worth the max, and the Pels need to hold onto him. I wish they could trade Zion.
So⦠is higher than 100 good or bad?
When Zion left Duke, I said heās a great talent but Iād be wary of drafting him No. 1 because I had doubts he would hold up.
That looks like genius advice now ā except that I also said Iād make Morant the first pick instead. Heās having just as much trouble staying on the court as Zion.
Turns out that 2019 wasnāt a great draft year.
The lower the better and Samās was the lowest ⦠shows just how amazing the skill level is on offense in the NBA ā¦itās ridiculous.
The best team was Cleveland at 110.6 (points allowed per 100 possessions).
People that say they donāt watch the NBA because they donāt play defense just donāt understand the difference in skill between college and the NBA.
Out of 363 D1 college teams, only 15 teams allowed more than 110.6 points per possession. And the best record of any of them was 12-20.
What would your top 10 be from 2019 if you could redo?
I agree. With Zionās injury history that contract looks awful and is going to drag down the Pels cap for a minute. McCollum is also being paid way too much for his contribution. One of the two needs to get moved especially with an Ingram re-up due in 2 years.
Trey is actually the least of their worries given the options on his back end. The holes at the 5 could bite the Pels more Valanciunas and Hayes coming up at the same time. Also have to assume Alvarado is do for an upgrade soon.
Thatās a really good question. Iād have to give it some thought. What strikes me, looking at the draft, is that so relatively few first-rounders have established themselves even as valuable role players. I wonāt call anyone a ābustā ā thereās still time for them to develop ā but I think there were some definite misses.
RJ Barrett took a few years, but he looks like a good pick now. Dre, for all his under-utilization, is an important contributor. Everyone thought Cam Johnson was a stretch, but heās turned out to be a great value pick, as have some guys picked at the very end of the first round: Grant Williams, Jordan Poole, Keldon Johnson, Nicolas Claxton. I donāt love Tyler Herro, but heās been solid.
Gotta be honest. Iām struggling to find 10.
For some reason, Willie Green doesnāt seem to like Hayes, but I do. Jonas V. is weird for me. He can score, has some range, but isnāt very athletic at all. Centers who can shoot give him fits on defense as he doesnāt cover space especially well. Iām not a big fan of Nance, and think he plays more than he should.
They need to work Alvarado into the long term plans. Heās undersized but he brings on energy to the game, and is loved by the locker room.
Despite acting like a knucklehead, I still think Morant would have been a better move at 1. When the Pels drafted Zion they let Julius Randle walk as a FA. They should have re-signed him.
A starting 5 of Ja, CJ, BI, Randle & Jonas, with Trey as 6th man would be a handful.
Zion is tough to evaluate. He plays like a top-20 player when on the court, but is only on the court a fraction of the time. It did take Embiid until his 4th season to get through early injury stuff (and heās been relatively consistent since, random playoff injuries notwithstanding) so thatās my best-case scenario.
Itās funny I feel similar about Jonas V. but Iām not sure thereās a better option floating around they could tap, at least not one thatās cheaper. Iād prefer to see more Hayes over Nance, but like you said he seems to have the drop.
They have to keep Alvarado, a fan favorite who is a great addition that you can get at a reasonable price tag.
For the Pels itās not so much that they are lacking, I just donāt like the way theyāve allocated their cap, feels like a disaster waiting to happen, because letās be honest, itās not like they are peaking next season, probably 2 -3 yrs from that as everyone settles in.
While I get what @newjerseyhoo is saying about Ja, I still think thereās a ton of time for him. His issues arenāt on the court, there he produces, and heās already done more for Memphis that Zion has done for the Pels so I think his draft spot/ROI is okay.
Brandon Clarke and Darius Garland have both been pretty good.
Darius Garland might be my number one in the draft class as of right now
Clarke is a player I love what he brings and is undervalued. Herro is very good but his pricetag makes him not worthwhile for me.
Garland has developed into a nice player.
Zion was drafted 2 years before Trey, yet Trey already has more NBA games played. Zion still has the lead in minutes, but Trey will probably pass him there early next season.
Why i hate the zion max deal.
Zion max > Brad Beal max > Westbrook max > John Wall max > Arenas max > any Kyrie deal
