I know I hype him up a lot on here, but Antonio Daniels from the Pelicans announcing team made a great point in a game about a week ago.
Basically what he said is there are 15 guys on an NBA roster. 5 start, another 5 play in the regular rotation, and guys 11-15 don’t play much. But that doesn’t mean guys 11-15 can’t play…they’re GOOD. Many were the star player on their power conference college team. Given the minutes, they can get you 20 in an NBA game. Once you get past the top 75-100 players in the league, not a lot separates the rest…it’s just about team make up, role and opportunity.

Couple of double doubles for our guys tonight.
Trey Murphy with 15 pts, 11 reb, 5 ast in a win over the Bucks.
Dre with 21 pts, 13 reb, 1 ast in a one point OT win over the Celtics.
On the otherside, Hauser had 8 pts, 2 reb, 3 ast in 23 mins off the bench for the Celtics.

Agreed. Jalen Johnson, their starter of late, was out and he stepped up. Checking the box score this year and seeing Hunter with 1 or 2 rebounds in 26 minutes of action was frustrating. I think he’s averaging less than 4 a game. I attributed it to Capela hoovering them up, but still anemic. Hope he’s turning a corner there.

It feels like Dre has found something different the last few days. He’s been a bit on and off 20+ one night <10 the next. The rebounding is still pretty bad as you say. I do think a lot of that has to do with scheme. A lot of Dre’s minutes are spent hanging around the arc or in a corner.

Speculation I’ve seen is that the new Quinn schemes have him being much more decisive. No waiting with the ball and dribbling a bunch. Instead just shoot it if the shot is good. This has helped Dre because he was never the savviest player/shot creator.

I’ve noticed that from what I’ve seen and agree that’s a better fit for Dre to see and act. He’s never going to be able to create off the bounce or iso on a consistent basis.
@BrunswickHoo yes, I’m not a Trey Young fan, he’s just great enough to get you fired IMO. He also makes for a difficult on the court teammate at times.

Sky is the limit for Trae as a talent but I suspect he is going to need until the second part of his career to get there. Get traded somewhere, have some self reflection and mature.
He’s only 25 - same age as Cormac Ryan for UNC lol

I think Trae has had and can still have a great career. But I think he needs to be a No.2 Not the focal point. He needs a Joker like counterpart (yes I’m aware that most anyone would benefit from that)
