I donât want to clog the womenâs thread up with NBA talk so Iâll ask it here following off the general convo of the womenâs thread⌠does anyone else love the NBA Playoffs as much as I do?
Itâs like all the regular season ticky tack rules fly out the window. Moving screens donât even exist they are literally walking defenders out of the play. Itâs awesome hard nose ball to watch.
I generally think Silver is a very good commissioner but the league would really benefit from games being allowed to be played all year like they are in May/June.

They dont want injuries etc. NBA regular season is simply a highlight league. You watch entire game there is as many awful plays as good ones. But the highlights that you can watch in 10 minutes are literally otherworldly

Injuries are fair point but itâs hard watching just a general regular season game without being invested in someone or something.

the nba needs to call way more offensive fouls. NBA basketball feels unwatchable with the moving screens.

I agree with the premise here. And I think we saw some of that post ASG. Fouls and FTs were down and itâs not because everyone changed how the play.
I do feel like the NBA is approaching a tipping point to revert back on some of the open play we are seeing. There have been multiple players who have spoken out this year about the game essentially being layup lines. Luka has gone as far as calling it soft compared to what he grew up with.
I donât think it will go back to the wrestling of the 90s but there will be a change
Yeah I guess my point was more of how stark a contrast it is between regular season and playoff, but generally speaking I prefer the playoff style. Iâd rather watch tough borderline (probably even past borderline) illegal contact than layup lines. 90âs style play with todayâs level of players would be incredible to see.

Some of the shooters flourishing right now would need enforcers on the team to keep them from living on IR if we went back to 90âs play. Might extend Draymondâs career for an extra 5 years if he could be Stephâs muscle; he feels like a natural heir to Charles Oakley, though no one can fully measure up there.

This is a very unpopular opinion for anyone 40+ but players today are infinitely better than 30 years ago. And thatâs not just saying todayâs players are that great, 30 years from now itâll be those guys that are better etc. Bigger faster stronger never stops.

The tough play wouldnât matter, you arenât bodying someone 30ft out haha. It was always a fun debate for me, those KD warriors teams going up against Jordanâs bulls⌠take any 90âs bulls team you want 7 game series theyâd maybe win 1 game.

I get what youâre saying and youâre not wrong but I donât think itâs as clean as that. If they went all the way back to 90s rules and guys can handcheck etc it will take a min for a lot of todayâs guards to adjust to that sort of contact. Nut the elite players could and would make adjustments. Hell the logo 3 came from an adjustment of smaller guards wanting more space and not wanting to get banged up.
Hot take Iâd take the 95 Rockets over the 15 Warriors.

Do the 1990s players get access to the modern steroids? Because that is obviously part of it. No human can keep on modern NBA level size and conditioning while playing 82 games without a small countryâs GDP worth of juice
