Only one naturalized player per team (defined as gaining nationality after 16 years old), so they’re up for the same spot. Funnily enough the team with the best naturalized player is the US with Embiid (assuming he’s healthy enough to play).

I wondered about that. There is some type of “close ties” exception around that, but no idea if either would qualify. Interestingly the team is coached by Igor Miličić. They also have a 3x3 team I believe, but no idea where they stand in qualifying.

Love it true story had the Ukranian national rugby team (yes they exist and are not good) reach out to me years ago thx fo a similar loophole with my FIL being Ukranian and my wife qualifying for dual.
My kids actually qualify for Poland as well

Hope he’s having a great time over there. I always think the overseas gigs are awesome opportunities to see the world, but it does also seem exhausting with how often they seem to move between teams. Getting to live in Italy and settle into one place for a while sounds fantastic.
