Isaac Traudt Enters The Portal

Ah got it

Lol! This reminds me of that viral tweet about Dell Curry.

Have never wanted to see a recruit face plant so bad in my life. Call me a hater. Or better yet let’s bets.

My goodness.

It is funny how your mind thinks back to minor things. Gmisnki did one of our games and watched the team practice. Raved about Bond during the broadcast, but I don’t remember if he said anything about Traudt. He may have but I just remember he was super high on Bond.

I will be interested to see how Traudt develops. I am very much in the we screwed up camp, but to play devil’s advocate in favor of the Tony is infallible camp, I don’t regret a single transfer out in Tony’s entire tenure that I can recall off the top of my head. If Traudt is good he would be the first.*

*Morsell doesn’t count for me. I think he is a very clear case of a guy needing a different system to thrive and Tony plainly remains on great terms with the family.

The sabreization of LRA continues…

Hahahahaha. Thanks for quoting me so it sticks around after you had it deleted.

I like it when @Spencer gets tough

Well, at least the Creighton Board respects some CTB value-added:

Send this to every recruit. The school you will eventually transfer too will appreciate your development while at UVA

That’s basically what we done. He spent a year at one of the best universities in the country. Worked out every day with the team improving his game. He had Mike Curtis working with him so he’s ready to play now. He spent a year here getting the best of everything for free. UVA got him ready to play and we got nothing for all that time and money

A nice change to the no-sit transfer rule would be: If (1) there’s no coaching change or (2) you haven’t earned a degree and you transfer, you pay back your scholarship money. If you can’t pay it back, you sit out a year.

In that case, they just need to give you a little more NIL to cover that fine

At least the school that gets screwed gets something out of it. Perfect for mid-majors that develop these kids.

Guess you could add a third — family or personal medical emergency. Blue balls wouldn’t count.

I think scholarships are already on a one-year basis; of course they get renewed in most situations when players stay, but the school can pull the scholarship after any given year. I don’t think requiring repayment makes sense for that reason.

Why was my comment deleted? Stating a fact of what the pinned comment on Traudt’s IG post is is not an attack on dude’s character. It’s stating a fact, and now the subsequent replies don’t make sense. @Spencer

Yes, this is the key question … is there something about our system that takes bigs 3+ years to master it. We then have the quintessential impossible problem. Top recruits won’t wait to learn a system. CTB “desires” that you redshirt / wait until you master the system. Something has to give. You need a system that bigs can play must sooner … or you need to pay them Bacot money to stay here and wait (still tough to do). Imagine if we had a system where guards had to wait until their 1000 game to master the system. How many guards could we keep.

Something has to give. It seems to me we need an easier to master system for two reasons: 1) to give younger bigs a chance to play, and 2) to give a team that is increasingly being made up of transfers a chance to become proficient faster.

Or – we pony up and start handcuffing kids with ridiculous money. Something has to give.

Yeah I think day one for our big men in our system Really holds them back… The guys here who were taller than 6’9 in TBs 12 years really haven’t worked out…Mike Tobey? Kadin? Papi?.. Jack Salt, Huff and Mamadi were the only ones and it wasn’t until their 4th year…NOT Good.

I was busy for two days and then all of the transfers occur, which seems to happen every year for me. This is rough but frankly I am not too concerned. Without Traudt it will be rougher but if IMac keeps developing and he has and if he has even a couple supporting transfers and/or Taine, he is going to be DEADLY. The hope is that if Shedrick does leave completely, Blake Buchanan gets more playing time and gets someone to support him as well (yes I am FULLY hyped about Blake Buchanan and yes I am partially bias but seeing his interviews has me convinced he will fit well at UVA personally and his play is chef’s kiss for this program). Next year will be rougher though, I do not doubt it. However, I always reflect and look at how CTB is relatively young when it comes to experience compared to many great coaches. He is reaching the point in a few years, like with Jay Wright, where a few adjustments are going to lead to a lot of success. I have hope for this group, especially McKneely and Buchanan. At the end of the day, however, despite my hope for the future always being high during the offseason, it generally does not work out. I am keeping my hopes more restrained this time, this next season may be rough.

When you frame it with “Dude really…” it’s obvious you’re trying to be negative about it
