Bro people have lives lol. Can’t expect everyone to be as locked in as us ahah
An FCS football head coach said once a kid says transfer portal they basically take access to everything away.
Yeah, the wine and cheese-leave 30 minutes early-text on my phone during the game alumni crowd have to start somewhere I guess.
As well they should. Traudt is as much a member of the team as I am now. I wouldn’t consider it douche-y if they turned me away at the JPJ door.
I agree. This is an “easier said than done” kind of thing. But I’m not necessarily saying these kinds of kids need to be starters day one, but they should be expected to play meaningful minutes if called upon.
I believe that especially for football where they are so secretive. Imagine basketball is similar. They are an outsider 2 of whom have gone directly to rivals. No sense in granting continued access.
Yes and no. I mean, the team has seen Traudt and Shedrick virtually every day. Practices, games, during and after big wins and bad losses, on the road and around grounds. They went through the wringer together. Everyone on the team at least had some idea this was going on months ago, though they probably didn’t know he (and now Shedrick) was 100% going to transfer until recently.
He’s your teammate, and maybe your friend, and you’ve probably talked to him about it at least generally. So, yeah, it sucks that he’s leaving and basically abandoning the team. But for the guys on the team its not a surprise and they’ve seen what’s going on with him with 1000x more detail than we have. And they’ve all had AAU teammates who’ve come and gone, so its not great, but they’re probably used to it and want him to be happy.
So, yeah, here at the very end there’s probably some awkwardness but I suspect its a lot less awkward than it’d seem.
Yeah absolutely. It is fair to start questioning if a guy can’t give you 5-10 minutes as a freshman if needed, are they really good enough/
And if a guy isn’t going to be good enough to play until he’s a junior… then recruit him when he’s transferring after his sophomore year somewhere else
Just think it’s not been talked about enough… prior to the season starting, by all accounts Kadin was the most dominant player on the floor in Italy and in the scrimmage against UCONN. We knew what we had in Jayden, and knew Papi could spell Kadin.
BVP comes in, as truthfully, a more experienced Traudt, that was stronger and more physical. I think the comment that’s been made that Traudt was only going to see a few minutes here and there were probably spot on at the time.
Obviously nothing shook out the way we wanted with Kadin being “benched” and not having a great year and BVP struggling/being hurt. Could Traudt have helped and played a good amount, in hindsight, absolutely…but just isn’t how it shook out. I think TB probably is like all of us, wishing it went differently and he could do it over but it is what it is. RS’ing kids is probably going to happen less and less, but TB supposed mishandling of this couldn’t be further from the truth…
Hey look at UNC at the moment, Love just entered portal as well
This is still Isaac’s pinned tweet. And now with the clarity of hindsight I can’t help but notice the expression on his face when he announces his commitment to UVA (about 40 seconds in). It’s a look of pure… resignation.
hah. I just think he’s kind of like that.
Yeah I think so too but it’s still funny
It isn’t as much of a thing here as it is on other boards, but I’ve never understood the enthusiasm for red shirting amongst a segment of the fan base. We were an extreme outlier in terms of red shirting players this season. I think maybe two of the three top one hundreds that did so this season?
There is a reason why it doesn’t happen often. I also don’t understand those saying he should have competed for minutes etc etc. He lost out to a one year transfer that is 24 years old. Yeah no kidding he didn’t beat out a 24 year old guy for playing time in year one. I don’t understand the snark directed in his direction either. A family friend’s son was brought in for one year, played 25 minutes a game, and this is somehow going to be A ok from the perspective of an 18 year old? Tony is a great guy, but it isn’t hard to understand how that would be perceived from Traudt’s perspective.
I would have thought after Jabri “the family totally wanted the red shirt” narrative would have been dead and buried. Evidently not. Given that he didn’t play it is certainly possible this is a Jabri situation and a missed evaluation, but my point is… That ain’t great either!!!
We will see.
edit to add: As WFS pointed out, Jabri didn’t redshirt.
Since jabri didn’t redshirt I’m not sure why that narrative is relevant at all
You are absolutely correct. I was thinking of a UVA 247 thread which is always a mistake.

Hahhahaha
What does pinned mean?
He made it so it’s the top comment on his post. So it’s the top one whenever anyone looks into his comments.
