Italy Trip

Huh. Interesting. Might also have something to do with why those of us who’ve spent too much time in NYC get neurotic…

Two things-

  1. Taine’s arms look jacked in the first picture. (Breakout player?)

  2. Reece is either 6’4, or McKneely is 6’3.

Might just be as simple as our feet need to get out of shoes every once in a while. I know my Dad’s podiatrist tells him not to wear shoes around the house because walking barefoot is better for the foot issue he has.

Can’t really use photos like these for height. The closer you are to the camera the bigger you look.

Taine has fully embraced Tony’s galaxy brain thought of him playing the 4, and has clearly packed on muscle as a result

and nah I think their heights are right. Reece’s hair is just taller. Look at their eye levels not top of head

Also lmao if you look closely Leon is clearly standing on his tippy toes in one or two of those, hes almost the same height as Kadin

Once landed in Ire on a Saturday AM at 6 and played a match at 1 pm. Went right into pre-game ritual like nothing happened.

A good general rule of thumb on going east is to initially avoid bright light until you would have typically experienced it in your home time zone, and then bringing it in earlier and earlier until you’ve shifted your wake up time to match the new time zone. It is helpful to stay on the new time zone’s bed time, some people use melatonin to help with that. Shifting meals right away to the new time zone is also helpful, though I think that’s easier for most people than the bed time-wake time.

Yeah I wasn’t *really being serious, plus you have to account for Reece’s hair, and neither are standing straight up exactly lol.

But how could you avoid bright light if you’re going to Europe (as an example), and they are 4-6 hours ahead of you? Would you stay in your hotel an extra 4-6 hours until your normal sunrise (For example if you’re taking an overnight flight)?

Used to have weeks where I’d fly out of Dulles to LAX first flight Monday morning, work in the LA office from noonish to 9 Monday, client meeting Tuesday morning, lunch with client, go to airport and work in the lounge a few hours then take the red eye back to Dulles (i used to be bored and play a game where I’d try to enter and exit the parking deck within 48 hours to pay for only 2 days parking instead of 3. Yes, that makes no sense if I’m not the one paying, I know). Land Wednesday and go straight to the Tyson’s office. Take a shower at the gym there, then work the rest of the day like normal.

Never, ever again. Those weeks were way worse than the day trips to Philly when I’d leave my house at 5:45 to catch the 7:00 Acela to Philly to get to that client by 9, work a full day and catch the 6PM back to get to Union Station before 8 and home by 9 with any luck.

Glad that’s not a regular part of my life anymore. Grueling and not worth it with young kids and a working spouse.

I hear ya that’s brutal. I quite a consulting gig I had a few years ago for that exact reason. Would fly Dulles to SF work the day in office client meeting then red eye it home that night and be in office the following morning after a shower and a shave. Brutal I actually enjoyed taking the 6am Acela from DC to NYC for the day for work. That was easy, probably because it wasn’t terribly longer than my daily commute as it was.

Yes you could. Some people use 3 hours before normal wake up on the home time zone as the cutoff for light exposure as that’s when your core body temp hits its minimum. So if you normally wake up at 7am in VA, your core body temp is lowest at 4am, so if you are going somewhere 6 hours ahead, you would try to avoid light before 10am (4am in VA).

This all SOUNDS good, but seems difficult to implement. It mostly reminds me that the way I’d really like to travel is if time and money were no object, I would travel to Europe on the QE2 like a proper gentleman and meander through the continent by train.

Basically Richie Tenenbaum without the beard or depression or tennis skill.
