Kadin Shedrick Enters The Portal

I don’t know all the NIL rules, but I think an interesting approach for a philanthropic alum would be to set up a program under which players’ name, image and likeness are used to support and promote charities or non-profits in the community and the donor supplies the NIL money. Allow the player to select an organization in the community they have an interest in, promote it and get paid doing so. Charity or non-profit benefits from greater exposure/donations. Maybe this is being done to some extent now,

Is NIL considered a gift or employment?

Would love to see some transparency injected into the NIL system as a whole, but definitely on the part of Cav Futures. I think the same dude that was talking about Cav Futures on the Sabre offered to set something up with whoever it is that’s running the collective. I’m not sure if it would be more of a sales pitch or Q&A session or just something that never materializes.

I think the player is considered an independent contractor in most situations.

I been gone for a couple of hours. Who did we lose while i was gone?

A bench player: the remnants of our sanity.

Most definitely not a gift, at least for tax purposes.

I’ll be very intrigued to see how Kadin is used next year. Will some team green light his midrange game? Wouldn’t be surprised at all

Kadin has 2 more years?

My understanding is it does kind of work like this at UVA. I know someone in Cville who runs a local charitable organization, and they put in to participate and then were essentially “assigned” a couple of athletes (not basketball) to do whatever promotional events the charity has in mind, or just to lend their celebrity to the initiative.

Yeah. He’s played 3 seasons, so has 1 more plus the Covid year.

These videos must be auto-generated from Synergy somehow, because “Kadin Shedrick, Wing Versatile” is probably not the first way I would have described his game.

They almost make you believe breakaway steals are his thing

I wonder if “more NIL” for Kadin and “homesickness” for Traudt are easier reasons for them to explain their departure to the coaching staff. Maybe those are the sole reasons for leaving, or big parts of the equation, but also seem like things that the staff can’t really impact or recruit against

I believe because it’s been stated by insiders on other boards. You usually get your real reason from those guys.

I love that the highlight video has the one three he made in his entire career.

I’m hoping for the best for Kadin and will agree something just didn’t click for him Charlottesville, but let’s not act like Kadin is going to be Chet Holgrem or Victor Wembanyama at his next school.

I don’t think anyone believes that but I think he can be a 5 in the NBA. He has the quickness.

Bigs overall tend to take a long time to develop.
