⛹️‍♂️ Leon Bond - Official Thread

Maybe TB doesn’t *want him to shoot 3’s since he’s a Blocker in the B/M role?

I just now see that someone else had already mentioned the Dawson comp. Great minds lol

I watched Bond in warmups last year and he was draining 3s with a consistent stroke. Dunn was right next to him and the difference in form and results was noticeable. I think Bond can find a solid 3 point game. Dunn, I am not so sure. He just doesn’t have a repeatable form (yet).

He was like that last year. He and Traudt were definitely not on the same page. And if you listen to some of those Cavs promos when they asked the players questions about their teammates, it is clearly one of the favorite guys in the locker room.

Yeah, but how do his coaches feel about it

A&M will be a fascinating matchup. They’re very similar to us from a size perspective. Coleman (who is probably 6’7 tops despite what he’s listed) starts and gets the bulk of the minutes at the 5. They go 6’0-6’3-6’6-6’7-6’7 with only 1 reserve big who is 6’11. Could be a great opportunity for Leon (though I hope we start playing him regardless of the size of the opponent).

I haven’t made it to a game yet this season, but when I do I usually get to JPJ 30 minutes early to watch warm ups. Last year, I would describe both Bond and Dunn as having inconsistent form on their 3 point shot with the expected resulting inaccuracy. Sounds like Bond has improved in that department; though no evidence yet during games for him. Dunn is 1 for 5-- small sample size, but not encouraging so far. I’m hoping to make a home game soon, and I’m looking forward to my shot-doctor, pre-game warm up analysis of those two. Also Rhode.

While a bit taller, I think Bond matches up well with Wiskys wings/forwards.

Agreed. He can exploit them. I know the competition Leon has excelled against has been poor, but it’s clear that he is a unique talent. He’s talented enough that we need to give him a shot even against teams that may seem like poor matchups. Think it will pay off for us (and him) in the long run.

He looked pretty good against our defense in the B/W game.

my floor for this team is rising. I feel like our lineup potentials would be/are a nightmare to prepare for. The blake and leon midrange confidence on top of Reece, Dunn and IMac are offensive options we haven’t had really ever

Definitely not reminiscent of Curtis Staples …

As long we’re going old-school, a couple of undersized forwards from other ACC schools to consider as comparisons are Keith Booth (Maryland) and Kevin Madden (UNC).
