Mandarin: pretty simple story
Roofman: more a light hearted drama than a comedy like it was advertised as
Took my first grader. Fun whodunit. Maybe a little older would have been ideal. Get an adult beverage and the jokes are funnier.

Backrooms was good, creepy fun.
Backrooms, Obsession, and Iron Lung all being good and doing well on tiny budgets should mark the turning point of studios starting to work with Youtubers en masse.
Those guys have had to be relentlessly entertaining or they’d get zero views, and are also used to working on a shoestring budget. In all seriousness, its a transition point that could save Hollywood from itself.

Scary Movie 6 had some fun moments but was bad. As opposed to the Naked Gun movie which had fun moments and was also good.
He-man reminds me of the Dungeon and Dragons movie that came out like two years ago: very similar vibes. Jared Leto is a terrible human but he actually plays Skeletor really well here. The rest of it is solid but not really memorable.

The Drama was great. The twist early completely changed the tone and Patterson and Zendaya are great actors/solid supporting cast as well.
Anaconda is Jack Black’s 2010s Adam Sandler “lets get the crew together and get paid to do random shit” project.

Obsession was the best horror movie I’ve seen since The Lighthouse. I think Inde Navarrette’s performance is gonna go down as an all timer.

I Like Movies: very good coming of age indie comedy drama. On Prime. Takes place in 2003 - it’ll hit with ~40 year olds

Supergirl had potential, or at least good moments where you could see what they were trying for, but it ended up bad and disjointed. I didn’t think the script was as awful as people are saying, but the directing and overall vision actively detracted from the movie.
Disclosure Day aspired to be merely bad and undershot the mark. You leave thinking “wow, Spielberg did that? It was pretty bad.” Then you think about the movie for 5 minutes and think about all the glaring plot holes and realize it was actually even worse than you’d thought.
So, don’t do that. If for some reason you have to see Disclosure Day, don’t bother thinking about it afterwards.

Agreed. Supergirl was meh but nowhere near as bad as online critics made it out to be. Felt like a generic marvel movie but did have some good moment and still like Milly as supergirl
Also agree. Very unmemorable movie and kind of a waste of time with no rewatch ability.
Cannot recommend The Invite more. Was very very surprised I liked it that much; Don’t Worry Darling was a miss for me and had me skeptical of Olivia Wilde’s heavy involvement and Seth Rogen is also hit or miss for me.
Would even go as far to say it’s a top 3 movie for me that Ive watched in the last 3 years (The Invite, Snack Shack, and the last spot is a close one between The Drama, The Holdovers, and Hoppers. Have a clear bias towards movies with comedic elements even if not the focus)

Just saw Spider Man. It’s pretty good. Very grounded spidey NY streets level story. Does nothing to advance Doomsday. Had 1 post cred at the very very end if you go. If I had to compare it to another marvel film it felt a lot like Thunderbolts IMO

That’s kind of a shame. I mean, I really like them pulling back the stakes, and I thought Thunderbolts wasn’t great, but it was good and clearly better than most of the MCU movies before it had been. Just that the Spidey movies had mostly been a step up from that.

Oh it’s definitely better just kind of the setup of the movie is thunderbolts like. Team ups, more langauge than usual marvel and the center story revolves around personal trauma and wrestling with who you are/can be. But it’s a much better movie than thunderbolts
