🏊 Men’s Swimming

Safe to say landing top recruits isn’t an issue for Todd DeSorbo. Men’s team just landed commitments from the Nos. 1, 2, 8 and 12 in the Class of 2025.

One of them, Thomas Heilman, Western Albemarle, has already represented the U.S. abroad and is the favorite for gold in the 200 fly in Paris.

No collecting donations to Bulldoze the aquatics center. Virginia is a football school and needs space to expand facilities. Swim in the James River. I hear that’s why the Aussies are so good.

You can fit the football fan base in lambeth.

To be fair, I posted it after kickoff. Wasn’t expecting this result for our gridiron Hoos!

Not anymore it’s not. But it’s head-scratchingly was on the men’s side for a little while.

The very top swimmers often want to train with others who can push them at the fastest NCAA, world and/or Olympic level. Those have been concentrated at Cal and Texas, and to a lesser extent Florida and for some reason NC State (including DeSorbo’s time there). ASU became a hot spot because Phelps’ former coach, Bob Bowman, moved there and built a strong pro training group. Not entirely different from Kentucky and Duke hoops recruiting.

Just took a while for UVA to break the seal, but it’s broken now.
