Agree 100% thatās a straight to red and let the rules commission deal it with on Monday with a likely sit down for a a game or so depending on the infringement.
I weirdly have a very complete memory of mine. We had lost every game that season and were down by multiple goals. They got a breakaway clean on goal and I was the last defender. I remember thinking the tiny child equivalent of āFuck this. Iām tired of this - heās not going to scoreā and I took him out.
Fortunately I learned sportsmanship not long after, ha. But I did wreck that kid and then was incredulous as to why I was kicked out. So I guess I was closer to a pro as a tiny child than at any other point in my soccer career.
Ah⦠thats called DOGSO (Denying an Obvious Goal Scoring Opportunity)⦠that is a textbook red card.
Iād have a tough time not giving you that one. So fair play to that ref.
Lol this is where Iām from, thereās a non-zero chance I would know who this is (or know someone who knows them).
Later in my sonās travel baseball, several of us started smuggling adult beverages into tournaments. It was far more chill in our bleachers.
Youth sports have a real problem and it is getting harder to get good young people officiating at the youth level. That will have a trickle down effect for high school, college and beyond in the coming years. I am guessing we will have roborefs eventually.
Pre programmed to give Carolina all the calls Iām sure.
Yep proud of my daughter for sticking with it. (Soccer officiating)
Started at 14 and 17 now and is expanding her schedule all the time ⦠sheās looking forward to doing middle school and high school games once she turns 18.
She just did center for first time in high level 14U travel boys games this weekend and loved it. Also a big benefit to being center is the distance from the sidelines so you donāt hear as much chatter.
Accurately called a PK too.
P.s. She is one of only 2 teenagers out of 6 in her original training group that is still doing it.
She also teaches piano so the 2 pair nicely for extra money and she sees herself likely doing both throughout college - piano performance major.
How are LRAers preparing their Turkeyās this year?
- Roasted
- Spatchcocked
- Upside-Down
- Braised
- Roulade
- Deep-Fried
- Grilled
- Smoked
@WFS_HOO What type of smoker do you have? Do you have a problem with humidity?
I fear no fire.
Deep fried is the best and it isnāt close. But weāre trying out the Popeyes turkey this time. Heard good things on it.
I have a Memphis Grills wood pellet smoker. Itās like a traeger except it is built in to a counter on our patio. Never had a humidity issue but have had some issues with the igniter causing shorts when the ash bin gets dirty.
Used to have an egg-like device but I found it difficult to sustain a consistent temperature. The Memphis smoker has WiFi control and can cruise forever at whatever temp you want.
Letās hear from the LRA posse on your familyās unique or unusual side dish for Thanksgivingā¦.
We always have shrimp or some kind of seafood which is normal in New England. My favorite one is Baked Finnan Haddie. Itās basically smoked Halibut.
Mashed parsnips and carrots. Stole it from an Irish friend a while ago. Really just parsnips, carrots, and ton of butter and salt. Love it.
Spatchcocked always the answer for birds
I have a Traeger, but lately the ignition has been acting up and it takes forever to warm up or fails to warm up, especially when itās cold out. Kinda disappointed in it for that, but the food always comes out great. 3rd year in a row Iām smoking the Thanksgiving turkey.
We do shrimp as well. Always have a watergate salad too⦠donāt know anyone else who does that and Iām not really big on it.
Also for the other responses I just got a Traeger this year as well. Iāve been nervous to go all in with either a BBQ or brisket, have been doing burgers and pork loins. Would love any advice on it.
Mix that bad boy up and make Coronation salad⦠LOVE that⦠I just looked up watergate salad an threw up in mouth a little bit.
Doing research nowā¦. After careful review, I am Team Parsnips. Never gotten them before at the grocery store. Thatās about to change. See below.

I second this. People eat that? Willingly?
