Couldn’t sleep last night in anticipation of the event. VPI picked up a 58 year old tractor mechanic (with a 4 year track record of halitosis and poor personal hygiene) out of the transfer portal. He should be a difference maker for their program.

Of course. I take Arkansas State every year cause they have home fishin hole advantage. But like @chavlicek15 said VaTech stole thier star player last year. I wouldnt be surprised if Bubba is found stranded at some pond on ā€œaccidentā€

You mean to tell me Tech doesn’t even win this?? Unserious school.

Why is she wearing 6 rings if the poster is about them 4-peating?

In pistoling you get 1 1/2 rings per championship

Only 4 of the rings are for pistoling. One is for sporting clays and one is for bass wranglin.

My 2nd yr at X the riffle team made the final 4 or won the nati and they hung a banner on the outside of the Cintas Center.

Everyone I knew had the same reaction ā€œWTF is a riffle team?ā€

Way off topic, but interesting…

Better than going to Russia in the offseason

True, but also, she won’t need to go, given where her endorsements are likely to end up.

Yeah. There’s a lot of talk about how good the ratings are for the women’s NCAA this year. While I’d absolutely like for that to be true, I’m unsure if its really just Caitlin Clark bringing in ten billion eyeballs by herself. And, to a lesser degree, the women having some really good storylines and interesting personalities this year.

Like, the game against WVU (which was a good game), was the most watched non-Final Four women’s NCAA tournament game ever. Breaking the record set by… Iowa vs Holy Cross, Clark’s first round game last week.

Edit - And just to note how much of a draw Clark is, my wife, who isn’t a serious sports fan but will pretty consistently tune in to big stuff, was watching Iowa vs WVU when I got home. Admittedly she fell asleep partway through, but she still made an effort to watch it. I was watching the game over my shoulder while doing some work, but stopped what I was doing to go watch her hit the free throws to break the single season scoring record.

She is a license to mint money/awareness that no one on the men’s side can even approach, let alone match, this year.

For sure word is she’s already on $2mil ish with deals which makes sense given she’s already a spokesperson for Statefarm gatorade and several other major brands

Yeah, what’s up with that? Where are the best WNBA players going these days? Or did that extra $$ just dry up?

I was wondering about that over the weekend. There’s still money to be made in the main Euro League. Ive seen multiple players getting reps in Italy, Sweeden etc. But the mega money that was in Russia is gone.

Really sucks. I don’t have much to add. Just a shame that the best players had a revenue source dry up (which is why this thing for Clark is nice - to your original point)

And obviously not the greatest tragedy of the whole conflict, but still…

$5mil is nice (understatement), but the big money for her is endorsements, and playing against the men could hurt her brand (or injure her), whereas I don’t think it can help her brand. She’s already ā€œIt.ā€

I’d also be curious how much she’d be affected by using the men’s ball.

That’s the thing there’s no real upside for her to play in the Big3. She has more endorsement money and earns more than any player in there and would likedly get hurt being bounced around by players twice her size.

I agree @haney yet another reasonnforthw WNBA to ditch their hard cap and let the owners pay the players.
